Abkhazia is not on our list in the first place just because it is not quite Russia, it is nearby :) In all other respects, this is the best place where you can go to the sea using a Russian passport. A passport is not needed, rubles are in use, local residents speak Russian.

How to get to Abkhazia
From Moscow or St. Petersburg directly to Sukhumi, you can inexpensively travel by train. The journey takes 38 and 45 hours.
Either from another city in Russia by train or plane to Sochi airport (Adler), and from there commuter trains and buses go to Sukhumi, on the road for 2-3 hours.
If you are driving on your own or - through a checkpoint on the border across the Psou river, just go out and show your passport and documents for the car. Drive out through the same checkpoint. There are no difficulties at the border, pure formality.

The beach has comfortable loungers and there are no other tourists nearby. Clear sea, delicious food. You can admire the sea around the clock from the balcony of your room - you won’t find anything like it on the first line of the sea in Sochi or Lazarevsky.
