Ski slopes for beginners. Overview of the best ski resorts for beginners

National Geographic Traveler has compiled a selection of ski resorts where there will not be scary beginners and where any teapot is guaranteed to learn to ride.

Trysil, Norway

The largest and most famous ski resort in Norway. Like a giant net, it spreads over three slopes of the Trysilfjellet mountain, similar to the volcano (literally - Mount Trysil). This arrangement of tracks can be considered a clear advantage, because regardless of the level of skiing of each of the members of your company, you can all use the same lifts. Routes of varying difficulty, although they initially scatter along different forest paths, are laid parallel to each other, so that as a result they connect at the bottom of the chair. Such a resort arrangement makes it easy to reach not only the tracks, but also any restaurant, bar or hotel. Of the many activities that are not related to skiing or snowboarding, the most curious is the “Star Hunt”, which the local astronomer-enthusiast arranges at night. Armed with a laser pointer, he conducts for romantics a real walk along the Milky Way. If you're lucky, you can also see the northern lights in the sky.

Photo: Courchevel Tourisme / David Andre

Courchevel is part of the Three Valleys, one of the most extensive ski areas in the world. For beginners, here in the literal and figurative sense there is where to turn around: a fifth of the resort’s perfectly groomed ski runs are green, more than a third are blue, and there are so many ski lifts that you don’t have to queue. In the villages of Courchevel there are special gentle zones for beginner skiers and snowboarders - they are called ZEN and are located near free ski lifts and travelators. Those who are just getting acquainted with the equipment should choose Courchevel 1850, where as many as 5 ski lifts and more than 10 green and blue tracks ending in the center of the village are convenient if you get tired quickly. Nearby is a family-owned snow park, where neophyte freestylers can test themselves on light slides, rails and ski jumps. Courchevel-Morion, facing the sun, is also quite good - there are 3 ski lifts, 17 green and blue tracks and a separate “paddling pool” fenced to make things calm. There are a lot of schools at the resort, many Russian-speaking instructors. And if you get tired of skiing, go to the Courchevel 1850 active entertainment center - Courchevel Aventure, where you can drive on snowmobiles, cheesecakes, funny Savoy sleighs and even a snowcat.

Trails: in the home zone there are 96 tracks (54 green and blue, 34 red, 8 black) and 5 ZEN zones, a snow park

Val D'Isere, Espace Killy, France

Andyparant.com

In the idyllic village of Val d'Isère, it is easy to fall in love with skiing forever, and at the same time go around trendy restaurants (do not miss the brand new Le Solstice in Le Yule chalet with a separate dessert room, Japanese dinners in La Mourra and the cheerful, always crowded La Baraque). If you are traveling with a company, look for apartments in the newly opened Chalet Skadi with spa and pool. You should start training with the simple green tracks of Le Village, which are located almost in the village at the foot of the mountain. Further you can feel like a hero and climb to a height of 2827 meters on the Rocher de Bellevarde - from here several long green tracks descend. It is possible that you will be taken to the famous alpine bar La Folie Douce, where après ski starts after lunch: dancers in feathers dance on the roof, and riders from all nearby tracks are drawn to the thundering music. Near the ski lifts there is a giant water park. On a sunny day you can ride a dog sled - the route runs through a deserted reserved valley.

Trails: 153 tracks (87 green and blue, 40 red, 26 black), snowpark
Season: from the end of November to May
Ski pass: adult - from € 278, children and for skiers over 64 years old - from € 228, includes one visit to the water park

Gazprom, Krasnaya Polyana, Russia

Lori / LEGION MEDIA

GTZ Gazprom is perhaps the best resort in Russia, where you can drive your first meters skiing. There are comfortable training courses: you need to start on green C and E on the Psekhako plateau, then go to blue D. The second option is green track I at the Fir Shelter (by the way, there is a restaurant with the most delicious Suneli Ice Hops food). In both places there are children's slopes, rentals and the service of instructors of the only official school. Gazprom has a lot of well-prepared blue tracks, but during the holidays and weekends there are lines to climb due to the low price of the ski pass. There are places for advanced skiers too. The evening skiing area is the most extensive in Krasnaya Polyana. Among the minuses is that in warm weather, due to the low location of the resort, the snow slides faster than on the neighboring mountains. Then you can ride a husky sled, jump on a trampoline, visit the spa or entertainment center "Galaxy" with a bowling alley and an aqua park.

Trails: 22 tracks (3 green, 6 blue, 10 red, 3 black) and 2 children's slopes
Season: from late December to mid-April
Ski pass: adult - from 8650 rubles., children - from 6050 rubles.
Equipment: from 10 500 rub.
How to get there: from Sochi airport (Adler) by shuttle bus or bus number 105, number 135 to the stop of GTZ PJSC Gazprom

Sölden, Ötztal, Austria

  Ötztal Tourismus

A small town in the traditional Tyrolean style stretches along a mountain river, the banks of which are completely built up with hotels and private apartments. And from its two outskirts two gondola lifts start, raising to what the local travel agency proudly calls "our ten thousandth". These are three three-thousand-peaks connected by a system of tracks, tunnels and lifts into a single 50-kilometer Big 3 Rally route. Ski routes and slopes adjacent to the city are good for beginners (six ski schools will help them become aces). Thanks to the heights, the season in Sölden begins already when autumn fairs are still taking place in neighboring valleys, and ends when apple trees are already blooming around the lower lift stations. The town is loved not only for skiing, but also for April skiing. There are more than 20 mountain restaurants here, and in the town itself, entertainment venues are found on every corner.

Trails: 142 tracks (67 blue, 48 red, 27 black), 2 snow parks
Season: from October to April
Ski pass: from € 285

Val Gardena, South Tyrol, Italy

Photo: Vitas Chernyauskas

The Dolomiti Superski ski region, to which Val Gardena belongs, is the largest in the world. On a single ski pass you can ride in 12 Italian resorts, which in general gives as much as 1220 kilometers of pistes. Beginners do not need so much, but the opportunity itself cannot but rejoice. Moreover, the main ski stations located around the perimeter of the so-called ski carousel allow you to go around the entire Sella Ronda massif in a day. Skiing in the region as a whole is simple: there are many gentle slopes, and red and black slopes are usually duplicated in blue, so even skiers of different levels can ride together. The sunny weather, panoramas of the Dolomites and Italian cuisine, which everyone likes, without exception, also speak in favor of heterogeneous companies and family vacations. Towards evening, South Tyrol ceases to pretend to be Italy and recalls its Austrian roots: the après ski booths are opened with brisk music, a sea of \u200b\u200bbeer and schnapps. Especially a lot of them in Selva, Santa Cristina is a quieter place, which is suitable for families.

Where to go skiing in an unstable national currency? Where to look for well-equipped ski slopes with lifts and off-piste areas? And most importantly - where is cheap now? In this issue you will learn about 13 ski resorts in Russia, which are affordable for the average tourist.

Evening skating is provided by illumination, and on snowy days the system of artificial snow formation is turned on. An advanced slope, dotted with mounds and ravines, which is located outside the complex, works for advanced wheelchair users. The length of the slope is 180 meters, the angle of inclination is 24 degrees.

Advantages: a strong snowboard school, inexpensive coach services (1000 rubles / hour), a 50% discount on equipment and a ski pass for children.

There are five different tracks laid (two red, two blue, one green) with evening lighting, which are suitable for both beginners and advanced riders. You can stay right in the hotel complex, located on the territory of the ski center. After skiing, people play paintball, ride snowmobiles and ice skates.

Why exactly here: to ski on the tracks of the Malinovka ski resort more and more often not only beginners and families with children come, but also advanced lovers of skiing and snowboarding. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, due to the northern location of the center on its tracks, there is always a stable snow cover and the season lasts until the end of April. Secondly, the prices in Robin are significantly lower than in other resorts. Although the ski resort has only two slopes with a total length of 480-520 meters and a height difference of 76-96 meters, for the pros there is a rather interesting red track and a snowboard park with steep peaks - three ski jumps and jibbing figures.

Why exactly here: the Karelian resort Yalgora opened in 2013 is not yet very popular among Russian skiers. For this reason, there are practically no crowds, housing is cheaper, and the tracks are smooth and free. Another attractive feature of Yalgora, located on the coast of Lake Onega, is its unique terrain, which is often compared with Kamchatka. Various competitions are regularly held here, for example, the stage of the Russian championship in skiing and snowboarding. In Sheregesh there are slopes of any degree of difficulty - from training to speed. Usually, pros conquer the upper slope of the Zelenaya Mountain, where there are black and red tracks, and beginners run around the slopes of Mount Teddy Bear. For children in Sheregesh there is a ski school and a ski nursery "Tumbler".

Sheregesh is also a great place for freeride enthusiasts. Active off-piste skiing is facilitated by dry, “flying” snow, heavy snow cover, the thickness of which reaches 120 cm, and a very long ski season - from November to May. The resort offers free ski riders heli-skiing and heli-board: throwing to the starting point by snowmobile, helicopter or on foot.
