Where is Yeisk located? About the city.

On the Azov coast, at the base of the Yeisk spit, at the northeastern end of the Yeisk peninsula, there is the beautiful resort town of Yeisk, beloved by its residents and guests of the city.

Yeysk has the status of the fifth city in terms of population among the cities of the Krasnodar Territory. From the very first day of its foundation, it is considered a seaport and the administrative center of the Yeisk region.

The population of the town does not even reach hundreds of thousands of people. According to the statistics of 2011, 87, 3 thousand people live in Yeisk. But this makes the town seem even cozier and more cohesive - like one big family.

The very name of the city comes from the name of the river Yeya, which flows into the Yeisk estuary. The inhabitants of the city are called herchan.

The city is located on the coast. From the west it is washed by the Taganrog Bay, from the east - by the Yeisk estuary of the Azov Sea. A very mesmerizing view opens onto the island, located three kilometers from the Yeisk spit. In its natural form, it resembles a ring, and inside it is a beautiful blue lagoon, as if from the pages of a fairy tale about distant seas and oceans. This island is called the Yeisk spit.

“Kuban begins from Yeisk” - this is the slogan the city received because of its location - in the very north of the Krasnodar Territory.

The distance from Yeisk to the capital of Russia is exactly 1000 km. The city of Yeysk is the same time as in the capital.

Mild winters and hot summers are the main differences between the Yeisk climate. The people of Sheikh celebrate the New Year without the main attribute of the holiday - snow. Snow-white precipitation occurs most often in late December - early January. Average winter temperatures in Yeisk range from -4 ° C to -10 ° C.

Spring is the time of renewal. Yeisk is no exception. Already in May, the sea water warms up to a temperature of +17.5 ° C. It is already possible to open the swimming season, which happens at this time. As for the summer - in Yeisk it is usually very sunny and warm. Short thunderstorm showers are rare in the Yeisk summer. In June, the sea water warms up to +22.2 ° C, with each subsequent summer month it warms up by another 2-3 degrees. The velvet season, starting in September, is marked by consistently warm sea water temperatures, which drop by only 3-5 degrees.

But unfortunately, with the arrival of autumn, windy weather bursts into Yeisk. By October, parks, squares and all green spaces acquire a rich golden color with reddish and red tints of colors.

Like all urban formations, Yeisk is divided into several districts. The Yeisk Spit is undoubtedly the most attractive for tourists. Most of the hotel infrastructure is concentrated here.

Yeisk airport is located in the west of the city and here is also one of the most densely populated areas of the city - Military town. The most popular and favorite place to visit by the residents of this microdistrict is the main attraction of the city - Ivan Poddubny Park.

The youngest districts of Yeysk can be called the "Field of Tears" and "Solnechny" microdistricts. There are new residential complexes here, which also include the 2nd and 38th microdistricts.

Yeysk can be generally considered the greenest city of the Kuban, because of its dense abundant flora. It is represented by parks and squares, alleys and gardens. Many parks have attractions, playgrounds and entertainment facilities.

We will tell you where to go and what to see in the city of Yeisk, which is located on the seashore in the Krasnodar Territory. Read about its attractions.

On the coast of the Azov Sea, where a sand bar juts out into the Taganrog Bay, lies a small and very cozy town of Yeisk - the fifth most populous city in the Krasnodar Territory (just over 80,000 people).

Founded in the middle of the 19th century as a seaport, it was quickly rebuilt and acquired an attractive appearance. Of course, the city, due to its youth, cannot boast of ancient architecture, but its central part has remained practically unchanged over the past century and a half. And even those who come to the resort only for the purpose of a beach holiday or recreation in sanatoriums, inevitably fall in love with the beautiful streets of the city, with its special emotional atmosphere and with friendly, welcoming residents.

How to get there

While the airport in Yeisk is under reconstruction and does not accept passengers, you can get to the resort from Krasnodar airport, or from Rostov-on-Don airport. From the distance is about 250 km, and from - about 200 km. Regular buses and electric trains deliver to the place in about 5 hours.

From other cities you can come by train, electric train and intercity buses. By private car, you should move to the south along the federal highway M-4 "Don" along the route Rostov-on-Don - Aksai - st. Kushchevskaya - st. Starominskaya - Yeisk.

Attractions of the city and surroundings

The first impression is best created while walking along the pedestrian Sverdlov Street in the historic center of the city. A wide, well-groomed street lined with paving stones is decorated on both sides with buildings of the 19-20 centuries, here and there you can see signs of cafes and small shops, and in the evenings beautiful melodies performed by street musicians float through the air. No less attractive from a historical point of view is Rosa Luxemburg Street - the mansions in which wealthy bourgeois used to live, and to this day look great!

It is interesting to walk along the sea along Schmidt Street, which is considered the widest in the world, since only its odd side is located in Yeisk. The even side of the street is located in Ukrainian Mariupol - across the Taganrog Strait.

In the evening, you should definitely arrange a promenade along the Taganrog embankment and walk to a remarkable place above the Kamenka beach, from where a stunning view of the Taganrog Bay itself and the city, colored with bright lights, opens. Couples in love often spend time here, admiring the beautiful sunset over the sea.

The pavement between Karl Liebknecht and Lenin Streets is distinguished by an interesting feature: it is made of ballast stones from foreign ships that entered the port. You can even see news from a 19th century city newspaper on some of the rocks.

During walks, every now and then come across remarkable sculptures and monuments to famous people. The most popular is the monument to the actress Nonna Mordyukova, who spent all her childhood and youth here. The monument is located near the Yeysk hotel and is a collective image of the actress's film heroines. There is also a monument to the actor Sergei Bondarchuk, who also spent his childhood here. Other compositions include:

 • a monument to Prince Vorontsov (the founder of the city),
 • monument to aviators,
 • tank "Yeisk collective farmer",
 • armored boat "Yeisk patriot",
 • monument to A.S. Pushkin,
 • monument to Vladimir Vysotsky,
 • Monument to Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia,

Noteworthy is the memorial complex "Defenders of Yeisk" with a relief image of soldiers and the Motherland-Mother on a reinforced concrete wall and two 20-meter metal stelae.

Fans of religious objects will love Orthodox churches: the stone church of the Archangel Michael, erected in the 19th century, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Church of the Holy Blessed Xenia of Petersburg, the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary into the Temple, the Chapel of the Blessed Eldress Matrona of Moscow.

Entertainment

Museums

You can start your cultural leisure with visiting museums. There are only three of them in the city, but each in its own way is interesting and worth visiting. The local history museum has more than fifty thousand exhibits that allow you to get acquainted with the history and culture of the region, starting from the Stone Age, with the flora and fauna of the North-Eastern Azov region, with numismatic collections and objects of art. In the memorial museum of Ivan Poddubny you can learn everything about the biography of the famous world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling. Inside the museum, decorated in the style of a tent circus arena, the athlete's personal belongings, photographs and sports equipment with which he was engaged are exhibited. And the Art Museum will delight connoisseurs of painting: it displays works by European and Russian masters from the early 17th century to the end of the 20th century, as well as decorative works of local craftsmen.

A trip to the village of Morskoy, where the "Kuban Khutor" complex with an ethnographic museum is located « Kuban courtyard ". Getting on the territory of the complex, it is as if you are transported several centuries back to the real brave Cossacks. Here you can not only learn about the peculiarities of the Kuban life and national traditions, but also watch a festive horse riding, go horseback riding on a thoroughbred well-groomed horse or ride a chaise, treat yourself to honey in an apiary, look at a home farm and a poultry house. Children will especially enjoy visiting the Kuban farm, because here you can see with your own eyes and even feed Altai yaks, rams, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, rabbits and nutria, turkeys, geese, ducks and chickens.

Leisure

For entertainment, you should head to the embankment. There is the Shark Reef Oceanarium with the original figure of a shark suspended by the tail at the entrance. Inside the building, there are several swimming pools of different sizes, in which whitetip and blacktip sharks, tropical fish, jellyfish, mollusks and turtles swim. The Oceanarium is open from 10:00 to 21:00, the entrance ticket costs 500 rubles.

After visiting the aquarium, you can look into the dolphinarium and watch a fascinating show with bottlenose dolphins, sea lion and beluga whales. Ticket prices from 600 rubles.

Here, on the Primorskaya embankment, the Nemo water park is located - the abode of active recreation and fun entertainment for adults and children of any age. The water park has 15 different water slides and 7 swimming pools. The cost of visiting is 1200 rubles for an adult half-day ticket, 700 rubles for a child ticket.

If in the heat of summer you want to remember about winter, you should go to the Snezhinka ice palace, where you can go ice skating to your heart's content at the price of 100 rubles per hour.

For water sports, it is better to go to the Long Spit: here you can fish, kitesurf and windsurf, and horseback riding. There are also nightclubs and open-air discos on Dolgaya Spit. The most popular clubs are such as "Atmosphere", "Rai", "Babylon", "The First", "Tornado".

Nature

While resting on the Yeisk spit, you can take the opportunity and see a local unique attraction - the "Island of the Seven Winds" (locals also call it "Green" or "Bird"). A powerful storm in 1914 severely eroded an extended sand spit, dividing it into two parts: one of them remained an uninhabited island with a lake filled with medicinal mud. Gradually, the island was inhabited by pelicans, cormorants, gulls and herons, and the lake was filled with fish. In summer, boat trips are organized here. Tourists are given the opportunity to observe colonies of seabirds, go fishing, sunbathe on deserted clean beaches and apply healing hydrogen sulphide mud from the lake to the body, and then have a picnic on the shore with an impressive view of the Sea of Azov. Due to the constant strong winds, the island also offers plenty of surfing and sailing opportunities.

You can also smear yourself with healing mud and look at flamingos, cormorants and Dalmatian pelicans on Lake Khan (another name is Lake Tatar), 55 km from the city. The depth of the lake is no more than a meter, but in hot summer the water dries up, exposing the bottom covered with a layer of salt. The mud from the bottom of the lake is saturated with useful minerals and salts, it helps well in the treatment of diseases of the joints, nervous and cardiovascular systems, and has a beneficial effect on the skin.

You can also enjoy the beauty of nature and relax in the shade of trees within the city - there are several green parks here:

 • Park them. THEM. Poddubny is considered one of the main attractions. It is more than 150 years old, and every year the park becomes more attractive and interesting. Now Poddubny Park boasts not only beautiful blue spruces, junipers, ash trees and thujas, but also playgrounds, attractions, manicured flower beds, fountains and wonderful concerts that are held in the summer on the stage.
 • The Gorky Park is also popular with locals and tourists, the highlight of which is the Archangel Michael Church. In the courtyard of the temple there are pens with peacocks and poultry, and even its own pond with swans.
 • The small Nikolsky Park is interesting from a historical point of view - it is the oldest park in the city. A monument to Nicholas the Wonderworker has been erected in Nikolsky Park, paths with benches have been laid and playgrounds for children have been equipped.

The city of Yeysk was founded in 1848. The beginning of the history of the city was laid by the Decree of Sovereign Emperor Nicholas I dated March 6, 1848 No. 22058 "On the opening of the Black Sea port city of Yeisk on the Sea of Azov within the army", which read: "In order to teach the residents of the Stavropol province and the troops of the Black Sea new means for the successful and profitable sale abroad of the products of their agriculture and thereby contribute to the development of all industries in this region, on the Sea of Azov, near the so-called Yeisk spit, open a port and establish a city , which is called the port city of Yeisk ".

On August 31 - September 1, 1848, the city and port were officially opened. In 1849 the general plan of the city was approved. The Governor of the Caucasus, Prince M.S., took an active part in the founding and development of the city. Vorontsov.

Since 1869 Yeisk has been the center of the Yeisk district, since 1888 it has been the center of the Yeisk department. Since 1932, the city has become an independent administrative center, since 1939 - a city of regional subordination, since 2007 - the administrative center of the Yeisk district of the Krasnodar Territory.

Yeisk today

Today Yeisk is a dynamically developing resort and port city located 247 km north-west of Krasnodar and 172 km south-west of Rostov-on-Don.

The city is the administrative center of the Yeisk region, where, according to the 2010 census, 141,248 people live. Of these, 97,176 people live in Yeisk.

The main directions of the city's development in recent years are the resort sector and the port complex. At the same time, the Yeisk region is one of the largest agricultural regions of the region.

Resort and tourism

The favorable steppe climate, the flat, gently sloping bottom of the Sea of \\ u200b \\ u200bAzov and the successful wind rose made Yeisk an ideal place for children, families and outdoor activities.

The swimming season in Yeisk lasts from May to September. In summer, the air warms up to + 25-30 degrees. However, the sea breezes are good at softening the summer heat. Almost five months you can relax by the sea, and hours of sunshine a year from 2300 to 2500.

In recent years, an active growth in the development of tourism infrastructure has been observed in Yeisk. The most notable changes affected the central part of the city and the Taganrog embankment. A water park, a dolphinarium and an oceanarium have been opened in Yeisk. One of the most beautiful parks in the Kuban was transformed - the park named after Ivan Poddubny.

Yeysk is also a unique mud spa resort. The very nature of the Yeisk region is presented with exceptional opportunities for combining mineral waters and curative mud, which belong to high-quality mineral curative hydro-carbonate-sulphate, magnesium-calcium mud. In terms of their properties and quality, they are not inferior to the healing mud of the Dead Sea in Israel and the mud of Saxony.

The number of tourists coming to Yeisk is growing from year to year. In 2011, more than 400 thousand people rested in the region. The plans of the Yeisk district administration are to increase the number of tourists to 1 million within 2-3 years.

Climate and geography

The city of Yeysk is located on the Yeisk spit, washed by the waters of the Azov Sea, or more precisely, the Taganrog Bay and the Yeisk estuary. This is the farthest point in the northwest of the Krasnodar Territory.

The climate in the Yeisk region is moderately continental. It is softened by the water masses of the Azov and Black Seas, due to which the climate in Yeisk is considered the most comfortable for humans, creates favorable conditions for strengthening people's health and greatly increases the efficiency of resort recreation in Yeisk.

sights

Yeysk is one of the few cities in the Kuban that has managed to preserve its original architectural appearance. In terms of the number of historical and cultural monuments, the Yeisk district is in third place in the region - there are 613 monuments and memorials. 85 - belong to historical monuments, 25 - to monumental art, more than 330 - to architectural monuments.

Famous people

Yeisk gave Russia dozens and hundreds of outstanding personalities. You can name such names as I.M. Poddubny, six-time world champion in classic wrestling. The first hero of the Soviet Union, military pilot A.V. Lyapidevsky, who took part in the rescue of the Chelyuskin expedition. B.I. Thor is an artist, architect, Lenin Prize laureate, who designed the Kremlin Palace of Congresses and the Olympic Sports Complex. S.F. Bondarchuk is an outstanding actor and director, whose film "War and Peace" was the first among Russian films to receive the Oscar award. People's Artist N.V. Mordyukova and many others.

Tourists

The main advantages of Yeisk include its relatively compact size, affordable housing prices, as well as the absence of excessive fuss, which has become a constant companion of popular holiday destinations. The Azov Sea itself plays an important role in such a positive image. Extremely shallow and warm, it is ideal for those traveling with toddlers who are just learning to swim.

Yeisk history

Yeisk appeared on the map of Russia in 1848. The future port was being built on Azov on the territory of the Khansky town, the "spare" residence of the Crimean Khan Shahin-Girey. By the second half of the 19th century, Yeisk had evolved from a provincial town into one of the largest cultural and trade centers in southern Russia. Thanks to the presence of the port, the city established trade relations with foreign countries, acquired a railway and slowly began to develop a new profitable industry - the resort business. The first vacationers began to appear on the Yeisk Spit already in 1912, but with the outbreak of World War II, the resort fell into decay, and did not manage to develop properly.

It is worth noting that Yeisk's wars were never spared. So, during the Crimean campaign, most of the city buildings were destroyed by artillery salvos from the British squadron. For a long time, the Whites and Reds could not share the Civil Port, and with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, German bombers began to pay increased attention to the city.

The resort traditions in Yeisk began to be revived in the 50s of the last century. Several new residential neighborhoods were built in the city, the hotel base was expanded, not forgetting about entertainment establishments and pioneer camps. As a result, a tourist stream flowed again to the shores of the Taganrog Bay, which almost completely dried up with the beginning of perestroika. However, in the mid-90s, the northernmost city of the Kuban regained the title of a family resort, once again opening its beaches to all fans of a measured, budget holiday.

Best time to travel

The temperate continental climate zone, which includes Yeisk, is characterized by short snowless winters and long hot summers. The swimming season at the resort starts in May, when the water warms up to +17.5 ° С. Summer months in this part of the Azov Sea delight vacationers with fine sunny days and warmth, combined with light refreshing breezes from the bay. The average water temperature in July is + 24.9 ° С. Summer precipitation is rare, and if it does occur, it is in the form of short-term showers.

The best time for swimming in the Sea of Azov is the period from July to August. You can get your portion of tanning in September, which is considered the "velvet season" in Yeisk. By this time, the water has not yet had time to cool down (average temperature + 18.6 ° С), and the intense summer heat is replaced by the soft warmth of the first autumn month. In the period from May to June, there are noticeably fewer holidaymakers on the shores of the Taganrog Bay, which attracts all seekers of relative solitude here. In addition, renting a room or hotel room at this time can be significantly cheaper than during the high season.

City districts

Yeisk is divided into 13 districts, of which the tourist fraternity singles out only a few worthy of attention. The absolute champion in attendance is the Yeisk Spit: a narrow cape separating the Yeisk estuary and the Taganrog Bay, the main beach area of the city, as well as a place of maximum concentration of all kinds of recreation centers, restaurants and cafes.

The path to the spit passes through the port area, whose name speaks for itself. By the way, not only the port, but also the railway station, as well as several industrial enterprises fit into the territory of this region. The latter, of course, are not at all "in the subject" here, but local authorities assure that in the foreseeable future all unreliable, from an environmental point of view, objects will leave the area.

The merchant city and, in combination, the historical center of Yeisk has preserved some examples of urban development of the 19th century. It is pleasant to just walk here, admiring the old mansions and occasionally looking into the pretty shops that occupy the historic buildings.

It is a stone's throw from Kupecheskiy Yeisk to Taganrog embankment, popularly called Kamenka. This main city promenade is decorated in the traditional style of the Black Sea embankments: souvenir tents, pavilions of unpretentious attractions, as well as endless rows of barbecue and snack bars. The most densely populated area of the resort - Military town - does not amaze the imagination with some fantastic landscapes, but it is on its territory that one of the main Yeisk attractions, the park named after I. Poddubny.

Entertainment and attractions of Yeysk

It would be unfair to say that apart from the beaches, the tourist in the resort has absolutely nowhere to go. Yes, Yeisk is relatively small and slightly provincial, and, nevertheless, no one has yet deprived it of the status of one of the richest in cultural and historical sights cities of the Kuban.

One should begin acquaintance with Yeisk from its center, where former merchant mansions of the 19th century are grouped. The center of attraction for all lovers of historical buildings is Gostiny Dvor, the exterior of which was copied by the architect from a similar building in St. Petersburg. Do not miss the opportunity to look inside the old building and buy something tasty: the building is still home to shopping arcades. For aimless walks in the fresh air and get-togethers in a cafe, Sverdlov Street or Yeisk Arbat, as the townspeople themselves pathetically call it, are suitable. For your information, in this part of the city you can still observe sections of the cobblestone pavement, preserved from the tsarist times.

To look at the 19th century Yeisk in more detail, buy a ticket to the Museum of History and Local Lore. Samsonov, which, according to his own guides, contains about 50,000 valuable exhibits. Fans of old-school painting are awaited at the Yeisk Art Museum, whose exposition can offer visitors very unusual canvases of the 17th-20th centuries. Be sure to stop by the "Lady in the Cap" by an unknown artist and make sure that this is really a painting, and not a photograph, as it might seem at first glance.

Portrait "Lady in a Cap"

The funds of the Ivan Poddubny Memorial Museum, located in the park of the same name, are much more modest, but some personal belongings of the strongman and even simple poems written by his hand have been preserved in it. Here, the tourist will be allowed to exercise with sports equipment, with which the wrestler trained more than 100 years ago, and will also demonstrate the Spartan atmosphere of the dwelling where the ex-champion spent the last years of his life.

You can turn back the clock and plunge into the atmosphere of the Cossack life in the open-air museum "Kuban Khutor" (Morskoy village). It is best to visit the complex with children, as this ethnographic village is full of pets that are allowed to pet and feed. Well, adult visitors will like a real Russian bathhouse, which is at the complete disposal of guests, Cossack smoking rooms with amenities and gazebos for picnics.

Resorts, who are accustomed to bringing photos from their vacation, embracing monuments and sculptures, in Yeisk also have a place to roam. The most photographed place in the city is the intersection of Pobeda and Lenin Streets, where the bronze Sergei Bondarchuk is comfortably seated in an armchair. Not far from the legendary director, on the same bronze porch, sits a no less famous resident of the city - Nonna Mordyukova. By the way, leaving Yeisk without taking a selfie with two of the greatest figures of Russian cinema is a gross mistake, because there are no more monuments to Mordyukova and Bondarchuk in any city!

Near the Central Beach the armored boat "Yeisk patriot", built during the Great Patriotic War with the money of the citizens of Sheikh, is on duty, and at the end of the war installed on a monolithic base as a monument glorifying the people's feat in the victory over fascism. Opposite the square to them. Pushkin proudly saddled a barrel of beer, armed with a rifle and brother, a dashing Cossack. In the same park there is another monument, but not of a different plan: a memorial monument with a slab and a child's figurine was erected in memory of 214 Yeisk orphanages sent to gas chambers by SS executioners. In the area of the city station, a bust of the founder of the city, Prince Vorontsov, is strictly watching the tourists. Walking along the Taganrog embankment, you can capture yourself against the backdrop of one of the most delicious monuments in Yeisk - a monument to dumplings, the creation of which was financed by a local entrepreneur.

Tourists, weary of the sun and the sea, go in search of shade and coolness to Yeisk parks and squares, the most visited of which is still the park named after I. Poddubny. Intricate labyrinths of alleys, tiled paths, carousels from Soviet childhood (quite serviceable) and modern attractions, souvenir stalls, cozy restaurants, and of course, a monument over the grave of the unforgettable Ivan Poddubny - these are the main identifying signs of a particular place.

In the center of Yeysk, next to the city house of culture, the park is located. Gorky, in which, in addition to charming miniature bridges and a mini-zoo, you can find the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. Here you can also ride a real pony, rent roller skates or get some nice memorable souvenir. On the territory of the park, from the side of the market square, there is a small flea market, so adored by numismatists and collectors of all kinds of Soviet paraphernalia.

The Nikolsky Park is a little simpler and, accordingly, quieter. Of the entertainment available to visitors, there are only unpretentious attractions, ice cream and soda stands, and well-groomed paths. The main treasure of this green island is an old oak, planted, according to legend, by Count Vorontsov himself.

For children, the resort has its own fun, mainly related to the marine theme. For example, the Yeisk Dolphinarium offers interesting show programs, where dolphins and seals act as artists. In the Shark Reef Oceanarium on the Taganrog Embankment, you can watch the habits of stingrays and reef sharks, but if you are lucky with the time of your visit, you can also watch the process of their feeding. An excellent place to relax with the whole family is the outdoor water park "Nemo", located not far from the Kamenka beach.

If you have free time, you should pay attention to the vicinity of Yeisk. For example, you can ride to the Seven Winds Island (aka Bird and Green Island), which was once part of the spit. During the season, a boat runs to this piece of ring-shaped land, so getting on it is not difficult at all. Among the main attractions of Bird Island is a lake with healing mud, which tourists like to use as masks, an abundance of birds and windy weather, which creates ideal conditions for windsurfing. Another outstanding and useful in all respects place is Lake Khan, located on the territory of the Yasensky reserve, 55 km from the resort. Swimming in its salty waters is especially indicated for people with diseases of the cardiovascular system and the musculoskeletal system, and the healing mud from the bottom of the reservoir can be applied to anyone who wishes - no contraindications and sheer benefit. True, you will have to come to terms with the specific "fragrance" of a natural medicine, too clearly giving off hydrogen sulfide.

Beach rest in Yeisk

A traveler who has arrived in Yeisk has two options for swimming: the Taganrog Bay and the Yeisk Estuary. At the same time, one does not need to go far: both are the closest neighbors, separated by the "needle" of the very spit that holds the city's beach infrastructure. The main feature of local beaches is a flat seabed and a vast (sometimes even too much) shallow water area. Thanks to this feature, the sun's rays perfectly warm the water column, which is especially noticeable on the estuary. By the way, while swimming in the Sea of Azov, one involuntarily recalls an episode from the movie "The Diamond Arm", in which the character of A. Mironov walks after the fisherman boy "on water, like on dry land." Sometimes you can move away from the shore for several hundred meters, but you still can't find a place where you could fully swim without clinging to the bottom with your feet.

After a vacation on the Black Sea coast, the shade of the water in the Sea of Azov can cause slight disappointment: no blue and very conditional transparency. The whole aesthetics is spoiled by healing sludge, which rises upward at the slightest movement and stains the water in a characteristic turbid greenish color. To put up with such a feature or to urgently change the resort is everyone's personal business. However, do not forget that this bottom suspension is very useful for the body, and many tourists go to Azov solely for the sake of its health-improving effect. For your information, the water in the bay is cleaner than in the estuary, but in windy weather, muddy masses rise from the bottom here too.

Local beaches are mostly sandy-shell, so slippers for swimming in Yeisk are rightfully considered the most justified purchase. Most holidaymakers prefer to bask on the Central Beach, which has access to the bay and estuary. The advantages of this place include its well-developed infrastructure. The beach is equipped with changing cabins and water attractions, and nearby are rows of souvenir tents, snack bars and nightclubs. Like all replicated places, the Central Beach of Yeisk has only one drawback - in the high season it is too noisy and crowded here.

The second most important place for swimming in the Taganrog Bay is the Kamenka beach, which can be accessed by going down the ladder, equipped on the city embankment. The beach area is divided into pebble and shell. As for entertainment, everything is more than worthy here: volleyball, banana rides, trampolines and a bunch of extreme and not so much attractions. Sunbathing in comfort is also not a problem: you can take an umbrella or a sun lounger at the nearby beach equipment rental points. But catering points in Kamenka are in great shortage, so for a snack you will either have to go up the embankment or agree to the assortment offered by loud-voiced Yeisk hawkers.

Young holiday-makers can be found at the end of Kamenka, not far from the port. For the little ones there is a private beach with the self-explanatory name "Melyaki". A gentle bottom, a convenient approach to the water, an abundance of small puddles after low tide and a sandy shore - even at the most cursory examination of the Melyakov, one gets the impression that nature created them specifically for "baking" Easter cakes and building sand castles.

Those who are annoyed by the noise and crowds of large beaches can be advised to go to less inhabited places, in particular, to the coastal area near the Military town (opposite Primorsky lane and Nikolaevskaya street) or the wild Obryv beach (at the exit from Yeisk, landmark - the road leading to the village of Morskoy). Here you can have a picnic or go fishing in relative silence.

Swimming in the Yeisk estuary is considered a privilege of little tourists, therefore, the main contingent of tourists on the local beaches is mothers with babies. The greatest liveliness reigns at the Children's Beach: the sea here is shallow, and the water is warm and less salty than in the bay area. After swimming, you can grab a snack at nearby cafes and fast food stalls. The necessary attributes of a comfortable stay are also available, where to get it - sun beds, umbrellas, sports equipment are rented everywhere.

Of the wilder spots on the estuary, you can name the beach in the Vodnik microdistrict (there is no infrastructure as such), as well as a section of the coast that runs parallel to Limanskaya Street. Although there are plenty of holiday-makers here, too, during the season, you will have to give up hopes of solitude.

For extremists and windsurfers, it's not a sin to look at the Youth Beach, which stretches at the end of the Yeisk Spit. The key characteristics of this piece of coastline are the steep entrance to the sea and strong underwater currents, which surfers like so much and do not please beginner swimmers at all. But it is better not to waste time on the beach in the area of Nizhnes Sadovaya Street. Firstly, because this is not a beach at all in the usual sense, but an unkempt piece of coastline with an extremely inconvenient entry into the sea. And secondly, because a busy highway runs parallel to it.

City's legends

In 2010, examining satellite images of Yeisk, the editor of a city newspaper noticed an unusual image in the area of the flight school stadium. The figure that appeared in the photograph resembled in its outlines the appearance of the Virgin, which the journalist was not slow to tell the media about. The sensational statement was perceived ambiguously, especially since it was not easy to verify the reliability of this fact. So over time, the hype around the "discovery" subsided, and the story itself passed into the category of urban legends. At the same time, the same satellite image that "opened the eyes" of the Yeisk journalist is still wandering across the Internet.

Treatment in Yeisk

The natural resources of Yeisk are already an excellent medicine in themselves: air filled with iodine and magnesium, sea water and, finally, healing silt mud. But, if a professional approach to the diagnosis and treatment of ailments is required, it is worth getting a ticket to local sanatoriums. The main health resort, located within the resort, is the Yeysk health resort, which is essentially a balneological and mud baths. The institution specializes in diseases of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, as well as gynecological and urological problems. In addition, the material and technical base of the sanatorium allows it to accept small guests for treatment. The main elixirs that are used in "Yeisk" are mud from Lake Khan and local mineral water used in baths. The family resort "Kazachiy Bereg" is located on the Dolgaya spit in the Yeisk region and looks more like a recreation center with a wide range of spa treatments than a classic sanatorium. However, you can also take a course of therapeutic massage, mud applications or take whirlpool baths here.

Restaurants and cafes

The most popular food outlets in the resort are small cafes and canteens specializing in Russian and European cuisine. Relatively budget taverns of Yeisk include "Cream-olives" and "Vareniki". They cook well in Izba, Baklazhan and Cossack Kuren, but the prices, according to reviews, are slightly overestimated.

If you need a place with a children's menu, try to look at the Park Cafe, but in search of Italian fast food and Asian delights it is better to go to Sushi Pizza. Shashlik, kebabs and pasties, which have become an integral gastronomic attribute of Krasnodar resorts, are also easy to get here.

Gastro-bars are also gaining popularity in Yeysk, some of which boast their own mini-breweries. In particular, the Prozharka Grill and Bar has made a reputation for juicy steaks and incendiary theme parties, while the Am-bar lures clientele with cold beer, Bavarian sausages and gigantic portions of pork knuckle.

Where to stay

The main types of housing that a holiday traveler can count on in Yeisk are family mini-hotels, guest houses, recreation centers and campings. There are few classic hotels in the city. Prices directly depend on the location of the guesthouse, as well as the range of amenities available to the guests of the establishment. In search of relatively cheap apartments, it is better to go to Shirochanka, New residential area and Voenny Gorodok, that is, to areas relatively remote from the Yeisk spit and the city center. With a certain amount of luck in them, you can find a modest room with a double bed, TV and air conditioning for only 700-1000 rubles. More upgraded options with access to the kitchen, Wi-Fi, free parking and a transfer will cost around 1500-2000 rubles.

In the guesthouses of the Kupechesky Gorodok and the Yeisk Spit, prices are less attractive, but in them you can count on such pleasant bonuses as walking distance to the historic city center and beaches, so if you do not want to waste time on the daily tiresome promenades to the bay, it is better to slightly overpay. The level of hotel service in Yeisk is predominantly two stars (Tornado, Rest). The only resort "three-ruble note", the Babylon hotel, can be called an institution with a claim. In addition to a private beach, the hotel can offer its guests an indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa, as well as meals in a hotel restaurant.

What to bring with you

For global shopping, Yeisk is definitely not an option. But here you can stock up on inexpensive hand-made souvenirs, which are so nice to present to friends upon returning from a trip. In most resort tents, you can find inexhaustible deposits of all kinds of handicrafts, beads and shell bracelets. But keep in mind that as you get closer to the city beaches and the promenade, the cost of such souvenirs increases exponentially. Among the tourists returning from the resort, you will surely find several people carrying containers with miraculous silt. If there is no desire to carry such an odorous load, you can limit yourself to a couple of bars of soap or cosmetic masks based on Yeisk mud. Among gastronomic souvenirs, the greatest demand in Yeisk is for Kuban honey and the products of the local brewery "Priazovskaya Bavaria".
