Is the rest safe? In which countries is it safe to travel? Airport - in the area of special attention

Is it dangerous to go to Turkey? Turkey is a relatively safe country, just like Russia. What dangers in Turkey are real and what are imaginary, how to behave in Turkey in different situations, what can be done and what can not be done? Here are some explanations for the safety of your holiday in Turkey.

In 90% of cases, we ourselves are to blame for our troubles! Don't ignore the recommendations!

Real dangers

 • Insurance is the second most important purchase after a ticket or a ticket! The most real danger in Turkey is the bill for calling an ambulance or, God forbid, for treatment in Turkish clinics. In Turkey, all this is expensive, and the cheap insurance that comes with the voucher is unlikely to help you, because this is the cheapest basic insurance option. Is it dangerous to travel to Turkey with such insurance? Yes, quite risky. Setting off on my first trips to Turkey, I did not make insurance - this way I saved money. But now, after several "cases on the brink", he completely abandoned such imaginary savings. Now I am firmly convinced that buying additional travel insurance is a reasonable and justified expense while traveling. I advise you to read my detailed article on how.
 • Road traffic accidents - this is the second, in my opinion, real danger in Turkey. The Turks themselves drive carelessly, and although the quality of the roads in Turkey is good, the features of the roads (serpentines, tunnels, mountain passes) often lead to car accidents. When buying long-distance excursions, I recommend inquiring in advance how many drivers will be on the bus (see). There are times when, in order to save money for a trip on a long excursion, one driver is hired, who is behind the wheel all day and, accordingly, gets tired. Such a case happened to me when I went on an excursion from Alanya to Pamukkale for the whole day. Those who rent a car (see) should be more careful on the road and pay attention to what troubles are covered by the insurance that you buy when concluding a rental agreement.

You have to be extremely careful while driving in Turkey!

Imaginary dangers

 • Political situation. An attempted coup d'etat was averted in Turkey in 2016, after which a state of emergency was declared in the country. It is still in effect. It consists of all sorts of restrictions for Turkish citizens, for example, it has become more difficult for them to travel abroad. The state of emergency does not particularly affect our tourists.
 • They are Muslims and we are Christians. This does not cause difficulties and any troubles, but quite the opposite. Turks are tolerant of other religions. Yes, indeed, very rarely they can ask what kind of faith you are, but that's all. Once my wife and I and my 2-year-old daughter traveled to Central Turkey. In the city of Konya (the most conservative Islamic city in Turkey) we were looking for an inexpensive hotel. One of the people we interviewed asked what kind of faith we are. We answered honestly that we are not Muslims, but this did not stop the man, and he then helped us a lot with finding a good inexpensive hotel.
 • Drinking waterin Turkey it is not dangerous and there is a lot of it. You can safely drink water from drinking fountains outside. The shops also sell affordable bottled water. You can read my separate article about it, everything is detailed there.

Terrorist threat

I would like to write about this separately. The fact is that it is this question that worries those who are thinking whether to go to Turkey on vacation or not. Tourists are in thought: on the one hand - very attractive offers from tour operators, on the other hand - "Is it safe there?" The tourist wants to get an unambiguous answer: "No" or "Yes". Is it dangerous to go to Turkey because of this?

The trick is that given the current situation in Turkey, no one will give you such an answer. It is impossible to say an unequivocal "no", after all, Turkey is not Syria or Afghanistan. On the other hand, in fact, there have been more cases recently than before. But not everyone understands that these were mostly "internal showdowns", they were aimed mainly at the military, the police. These incidents, as a rule, did not take place in tourist places, with the exception, perhaps, of Istanbul.

People are afraid of terrorism and flying by plane, although the biggest danger during vacation is the car ride from home to the airport. These are stubborn statistics.

 • If they ask me, if I go to Turkey myself, my answer will be like this. Yes, I am going to Turkey, alone or with my wife, to continue working on this guide. We need to visit Istanbul and drive along the coast of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.
 • If they ask me, if I go to Turkey with children, then my answer will be like this. Yes, we may go with the children if they don’t want to spend the summer in the village with their grandmother. If with children, then we would like to go on a tour or rent a house on the seashore.
 • If they ask mewhether they should go to Turkey, my answer is this. You must decide for yourself.

Memo: how to behave in Turkey on vacation

 • Get medical insurance in addition to your stay. As I already wrote, this is the second most important purchase after buying a ticket or a ticket. Read more about insurance and which one is better to buy.
 • Do not take pictures police, military, military facilities, border zones and all sorts of government agencies. I only photographed the tourist police after asking permission.
 • Don't visit the eastern part of the country near the Syrian border. There is a war in Syria and, as a result, it is not recommended to be near the border zone. It may even end up being suspected of being a terrorist in yourself, with all the ensuing consequences.
 • Alcohol. In Turkey, little is drunk - Islam does not approve of the use of alcohol. I once visited a teahouse in Central Turkey, where men watched boxing on TV and drank only tea and mineral water. This has a significant plus: there are no drunk people with inappropriate behavior on the streets. Alcoholic drinks are sold only in tourist places, and throughout the country in special rare stores. Being drunk is strongly discouraged, especially in the conservative regions of the country.
 • What is the right way for girls to behave in Turkey? I strongly advise against traveling alone in order to avoid unnecessary adventures that may end in disaster for you. As for the trips on the package, it is quite possible to go alone. When traveling alone with a man, introduce yourself as a married couple, even if you are not. Many Turks find European girls more approachable, so dress conservatively.
 • Clothing.Shorts and short sleeves in tourist spots are absolutely not satisfactory. But in Central Turkey, where there are few or no tourists, this can be a problem for you. Particular attention should be paid to clothes for girls: when away from tourist places, dress so that there are as few open areas of the body as possible, the head should be covered, and the hair should not be loose.
 • Avoid talking about politics. Do not remind about Kurdish separatism, the problem with Cyprus, the Armenian genocide. Don't talk about NATO, the United States, or the relationship between Russia and Turkey. Do not criticize Ataturk. Ataturk is the founder of the Turkish Republic. His portraits and monuments are found in large numbers throughout Turkey. Turks venerate him, as we once venerated Lenin. Kemal Ataturk, like Lenin, has a mausoleum in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
 • Do not argue about whose religion is correct. Although the Turks are tolerant of other religions and Turkey is a secular country (religion is separated from the state), it is still categorically not worth being impolite to their faith or insulting their religious traditions. By the way, if there is a mosque near your place of residence, then be prepared for the call to prayer (namaz) to sound loudly from the speakers five times a day.

I brought up my vision of the question "Is it dangerous to go to Turkey in 2019?", Which, apparently, is shared by hundreds of thousands of Russian tourists who visited Turkey in 2018. But the decision of which country to choose for vacation is always yours.

Good luck to you! Take care of yourself!

For a long time it was a favorite vacation spot for Russians. However, in 2015 the situation changed dramatically. After the crash of the airliner of the Russian airline Kogalymavia, which was caused by a terrorist act, air traffic between Russia and Egypt was suspended.

Despite assurances from the Egyptian side that all security requirements at airports have been met, the Russian authorities were in no hurry to give flight permits to domestic airlines, periodically reassuring the Russians with a resolution of this issue throughout 2017.

The first but decisive step was taken shortly before 2019. An agreement was signed between Moscow and Kir to resume flights in early February (later, however, the start of flights was shifted to April). This news gave hope to many Russians wishing to spend a vacation on the shores of the Red Sea, and also again raised the question of whether it is safe to vacation in Egypt and whether it is worth flying there in 2019. Let's try to figure it out.

Geopolitical situation

The Egyptian authorities have repeatedly assured that there is no danger for foreign tourists in the country. Considering that the lion's share of vacationers go to resort areas or where hotels are located on a separate territory, carefully guarded and with restrictions on visiting it, it can be assumed that an armed bandit is unlikely to be encountered there.
This opinion is supported by numerous messages in various forums left by Russians who permanently reside in Egypt, or who are there for work. All of them unanimously argue that there is no safer place than Egypt.

However, one should not forget that the main factor in the prohibition of the tourist flow between our countries was insufficient measures and security control at the country's air terminals, through which Russian tourists arrived on vacation.
The main questions concerned the airports of Cairo, Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.

The first of them, the capital's Cairo airport, received mostly regular flights, while the other two organized numerous charter flights from various cities of Russia.
The work that was carried out to develop and implement security measures in the zone and inside the airports has been repeatedly inspected by representatives of the Russian side. And if our experts still have questions about Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, the second terminal of the Cairo airport, completely renewed, modernized and equipped with the latest technology, was assessed as ready to resume flights.

Taking into account these negotiations dated December 15, 2017, it is important to understand that only regular flights on the Moscow-Cairo route will be organized. The further travel to the place of rest will have to be organized independently. For example, take advantage of domestic flights that arrive at airports that have not been evaluated by our side as completely safe and ready to resume flights from Russia.

All these facts must be weighed against those planning to travel to Egypt in 2019.

But, distracting from the geopolitical situation and assuming that Egypt was chosen as a tourist route, we will discuss the basic safety rules that should be observed while resting in the country of the Sphinx and the Pyramids.

Safety during excursions

Important. It is not recommended to go to get acquainted with the historical heritage of Egypt alone. Individual travel on Egyptian roads can be dangerous, and some routes are generally closed to private vehicles.

When choosing and ordering excursions, you should not save money and order a cultural program from local residents. It is preferable to choose for these purposes Russian tour operators that provide certain attributes and security guarantees.

Sanitary conditions and medical care in the country

The most important requirement in this matter concerns the water that the tourist drinks and in which he swims.

Only bottled water should be used as drinking water. Tap water is not suitable for these purposes.

Swimming in Egypt is worth only in the sea in the water, especially since the Mediterranean and Red Seas are best suited to this. You should refrain from swimming in river water. The Nile is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. The desire to plunge into it can end with various skin diseases and not only diseases.

Before traveling to Egypt, be sure to take out insurance and carefully study all its points.
It should be noted that Egyptian medicine does not differ in quality and technology. But the availability of insurance will at least protect the tourist from unnecessary, not always honest, waste on treatment and medicines.

It is advisable to consult your doctor about the need for any vaccinations prior to the trip before the trip.

Sun, sand and dehydration

Egypt's hot climate with high solar activity often leads to sunburn and dehydration.

To prevent a lack of water in the body, you need to observe the drinking regime, always have a supply of drinking water with you.

Correctly selected clothes with long sleeves and a closed collar will protect the body from sunburn. Sunscreen should be applied to exposed areas of the body, remembering to renew it periodically.

When traveling in the deserts, one must remember that protecting the face and especially the eyes from the desert winds is mandatory. For this, special goggles and arafat scarves are suitable.

Red Sea: beautiful and dangerous

The underwater world of the Red Sea attracts snorkeling and diving enthusiasts with its diversity and riot of colors. But do not forget that behind the external brightness and exoticism of hedgehogs, moray eels, stingrays, sea snakes and fish, there can be a great danger.

There are two rules to help protect yourself from marine life:

 • obligatory wearing of special rubber slippers even in the case of a simple walk along the water's edge,
 • when swimming, snorkeling or diving, you must not touch hedgehogs, jellyfish and other inhabitants of the Red Sea.

Compliance with these simple rules will make your vacation in Egypt safe.

However, returning to the general geopolitical situation, I would like to note that after the direction of the trip has been chosen, it is recommended to contact the Russian Foreign Ministry and clarify about the safety in the chosen recreation area. If there is evidence of an unstable situation in the planned vacation spot, you should refrain from traveling. Moreover, in such a situation, tour operators, as a rule, meet the tourist halfway and are ready to postpone the dates of the trip or its direction.

Russia and other CIS countries are also relatively prosperous. But below will be a list of countries where, due to military, interethnic and religious conflicts, low living standards, natural disasters, it is better not to go to a tourist. Even in such popular countries as India, Brazil, Mexico, there is still a great threat of conflicts and other unforeseen circumstances.

There are countries in which there is constant hostilities and there is a danger to life. But in some states, conflicts are hidden, and they can manifest themselves at any time. Just like natural disasters, no one can foresee them. Before choosing a country for travel, it is imperative to clarify the current state of affairs in it.

We present you a list of the most dangerous countries in the world for travel. Some countries on the list (in terms of their danger) are of course controversial, for example, Russian tourists are actively traveling to the Philippines and Cambodia, but nevertheless, these countries pose a danger to tourism.

1. Afghanistan

The modern stage of Afghanistan's development began in 2001, when, after the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, American troops invaded the country to search and punish the international terrorist Osama bin Laden (according to the official version). As a result of the invasion, the Taliban regime was toppled and the modern Republic of Afghanistan was established, led by Hamid Karzai. But the Taliban was not completely suppressed and the militants are still hiding in the mountainous regions of Waziristan on the border with Pakistan. They constantly carry out armed attacks on the allied forces and organize terrorist attacks. Although the official government in Afghanistan is supported by the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF), they control only a small area around the capital Kabul.

Thus, it is not safe for a tourist to be in Afghanistan. It is a very poor country with a lot of religiously intolerant people. Here you can either accidentally get into the epicenter of an explosion or terrorist attack, or become a victim of kidnapping or robbery.

Despite constant wars, Afghanistan still has some tourist attraction. This is a country with a rich history. On its territory, many artifacts have been preserved, collected over more than 5000 years of civilization on this earth. But, unfortunately, in recent years of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, several important historical sites have been deliberately destroyed. Among them is the tallest Buddhist building in the world - the Bamiyan sculpture. She was declared pagan and blown up.

2. Pakistan

Pakistan, the former part of colonial India, has always been troubled. There is an unstable political system in this country, government troops are constantly fighting against rebels and terrorists. There is a threat of a military conflict with India. The most dangerous regions of Pakistan are the territories along the border with Afghanistan (controlled by the Taliban), the Balukhistan region, as well as the country's largest city, Karachi. In these areas, clashes between different tribes and religious groups often occur.

In Pakistan, travelers are attracted by the incredible beauty of mountain landscapes. The northern part of the country is a popular destination for mountain climbing. In addition, there are a lot of ancient architectural monuments in Pakistan: excavations of an ancient civilization in the Indus Valley - Mohenjo-Daro, the capital of the Indian people of the Gandhars - Taxila, Lahore Fortress, Shalimar Gardens, etc.

3. Iraq

Internal conflicts between warring groups in Iraq, such as Kurds, Sunni Muslims, Shia Muslims (the Mahdi army), the Arab Socialist Renaissance Party (Baath), and the Iraqi Communist Party are complemented by external conflicts with neighboring states Iran and Kuwait. The US armed forces play an important role in resolving the situation in the region. They are called upon to confront the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, whose main subdivision is located in Iraq.

Among the entire territory of the country in Iraq, the most troubled zone can be distinguished. This is the central part of the country along with the capital Baghdad. The most probable danger of terrorist attacks, explosions, military conflicts exists in the territory from north to south from Tikrit to Khalla and from west to east from Ramadi to Mandali.

For tour operators, Iraq is one of the biggest losses. The territory in the valley of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers is the cradle of many civilizations. This land is home to the largest number of archaeological sites that attract both scientists and ordinary tourists. Just 85 km from Baghdad are the ruins of the ancient city of Babylon, which, since the beginning of the 2003 Iraqi war, served as a base for the allied forces. The presence of the military caused significant damage to the architectural monument. In addition to Babylon, the ancient Sumerian city of Ur, the capital of Arcadia, the city of Stesiphon, and the capital of Assyria, the city of Ashpur are located in Iraq.

4. Syria

The country of Syria in the Middle East has been in a state of civil war since 2011. Armed opposition and rebels have been fighting the government forces of the country's permanent president since 2000, Bashar al-Assad, who was re-elected to a third term in June 2014. Prior to that, his father Hafez al-Assad ruled the country for 30 years.

The territory of Syria is the cradle of many great states of antiquity - Assyria, Phenicia, Mesopotamia, Persia, the Arab Caliphate, etc. Saladdin and Alexander the Great left their traces on the Syrian land. Every stone, every grain of sand in this country has witnessed important historical events.

The most attractive from the point of view of tourism is the city of Damascus - the most ancient capital in the world. In Damascus, a part called the Old City is well preserved. Here are the ancient pre-antique quarters, as well as the famous eastern market Hamidia and the bzuria spice market.

The historical part of Damascus is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are dozens of valuable architectural structures, including the Basilica of St. Zacharias (now a mosque) with the relics of John the Baptist.

Syria is also famous for its preserved Crusader castles, built in the XII-XIII centuries. The most famous castle Krak des Chevaliers is included in all history textbooks. This is the most fortified fortification that no one has yet managed to take by storm.

5. Algeria

In Algeria, fragile order is maintained through constant military suppression of uprisings and the persecution of terrorist (al-Qaeda-linked) and fundamentalist (religious Islamic) groups. It is not uncommon in the country, including at airports and hotels, to thunder explosions and shootouts. Participation or observation of demonstrations is especially dangerous.

The north of the country - the Mediterranean coast and the Atlas Mountains - is considered a relatively safe area of Algeria. The Sahara Desert is considered a dangerous territory, where it is not recommended to travel on your own. Travel can only be made with an organized tourist group and under reliable security. The danger of traveling across the Sahara is the same as in neighboring countries Tunisia or Morocco.

In no case should you intentionally or unintentionally offend the feelings of local residents. The country has a ban on photographing local residents, and especially photographing women and the military.

6. Libya

The long period of rule of Muammar Gaddafi, who actively used the military to suppress popular uprisings, did not lead to anything good. In 2011, a civil war broke out in the country, during which the rebels were supported by NATO and the European Union. The support was both in the form of funding and direct participation of troops and aviation. In October 2011. Muammar Gaddafi was killed, and power passed to a temporary government body - the Transitional National Council. In August 2012, after the elections to the General National Congress, power passes to the legal authority.

Despite the overthrow of the regime of Muammar Gaddafi, the authority of the official authorities extends only to the territory of Tripoli and the surrounding areas. The rest of the country is divided into several quasi-states - autonomous regions with their own authorities and army. The Fezzan region, the Western Mountains region, Benghazi region, and the city-state of Misrata have a high degree of autonomy. At the same time, the cities of Bani Walid and Sirte were devastated for supporting the Gaddafi regime.

The safety for a traveler in Libya depends on the region where he is traveling. Only Tripoli can be considered relatively safe. In other parts of the country, armed attacks and kidnappings often occur, it is not for nothing that in ancient times the territory of Libya and coastal waters were considered the most dangerous in terms of pirate attacks.

Despite the significant security threat, there are people who still strive to get to Libya, since there are many architectural monuments of the ancient period and the period of the Roman Empire on its territory. These are the cities of Cyrene, Apollo, Sirtika (Leptis Magna), Sabrafa. In the Tadrart-Akakus mountains, you can see examples of ancient rock art. In the south-west of the country is the Ghadames oasis.

7. Democratic Republic of the Congo

Country in Central Africa The Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to the IMF for 2012, is the poorest in the world. In addition to poverty and an unstable political situation in the country, conflicts between tribes and communities constantly occur, which are often bloody. Even in the 21st century, cases of cannibalism have been recorded in the Congo, there is the highest level of rape of women, there is sexual slavery.

Moving around the Congo, especially on your own, is extremely dangerous. Tourists can be involved in a showdown between tribes, many of which are armed, or fall prey to street robbers especially greedy for gold. Tourists can be robbed by both criminals and ordinary residents or street boys, for whom it is normal to remove gold and valuables from a visitor.

8. Yemen

The state in the south of the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, is the poorest in the Arab world. A significant part of the territory is occupied by a desert, unsuitable for agriculture or other activities. The main income item of the country's budget is income from oil and gas. But mineral reserves are constantly decreasing.

There are several hazards for tourists in Yemen. Firstly, the country has very cruel laws that provide for the death penalty even for minor violations. Secondly, Yemen is the country with the largest number of weapons (AK-47 assault rifles) per capita. Thirdly, a large number of Islamic separatists and terrorists from other countries find refuge in this country.

But neither such dangerous factors, nor the unbearable heat can stop some travelers who come to Yemen to see "desolate Manhattan" - the ancient city of Shibam, one of the most ancient cities in the world, the capital of the state of Sana, the historic city of Zabid and the Socotra archipelago with alien views.

9. Zimbabwe

In Zimbabwe, there is a totalitarian regime of President Robert Mugabe, who today is the oldest head of state (90 years old). The reforms carried out by him in agriculture, which implied the expropriation of the holdings of "white" owners, led to ruin, inflation and unemployment. The adult unemployment rate was 95%, and the inflation rate in 2008 was a record in the world - 231 million%.

Robbers and gangs, as well as policemen pose a great danger to tourists. It is very dangerous to be in someone else's territory, because the owner can easily shoot a stranger. Due to the shortage of fuel and rising prices for it, in the middle of Zimbabwe, you can find yourself without transport. There are very frequent cases of mine explosions.
The main thing that can attract tourists to Zimbabwe is the numerous nature reserves and national parks. On the territory of this country is the famous Victoria Falls.

10. Burundi

Burundi is a small country east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has no outlet to the sea, but it is washed by the waters of the world's longest freshwater lake Tanganyika (the second in volume and depth after Lake Baikal). After a military dictatorship and the assassination of several presidents, a fragile peace remains in the country, which at any moment can be violated by armed representatives of one of several warring tribes. It is extremely dangerous to travel around the country by car. In a person who does not know the local order, both the police and the rebels can defuse a gun fire. With the onset of darkness, curfew begins, during which it is extremely dangerous to go outside.

11. Angola

From the beginning of the struggle for independence from Portugal (1950s) to the present day, Angola has been restless. For a long time, with the support of the USSR and Cuba, the country followed the communist path of development. After the collapse of the USSR, the ruling party reoriented itself to the United States and began to carry out market reforms. But to this day, armed confrontations between the official authorities and the opposition continue in the country. Members of opposition parties have been severely persecuted. Mosques are being demolished in the country under the slogan of preserving Angola's "spiritual and cultural heritage".

In addition to constant armed confrontations, protests, demonstrations, there are significant economic problems in Angola. There is a high level of poverty, unemployment, hunger, and rampant crime. Since the war, a lot of weapons have been preserved in the country, some territories are mined. In some areas (especially in the Cabinda region), terrorist groups are widespread, which can attack both the police and civilians and tourists. In the capital of Angola, Luanda, street theft is common. In public transport, wallets, bags and mobile phones are often stolen. In broad daylight, and especially at night, robberies often occur. It is better not to stop anywhere on the road.

12. Nigeria

The most populous country in Africa, Nigeria, has gathered more than 200 ethnic groups in its cordons. Clashes often occur between them, which greatly hinders the establishment of stability in the country. Many insurgents in Nigeria are fighting government forces. Frequent clashes between bandit formations, rebels and government forces take place in the Delta, Bakassi and Bayels regions. Here, civilians and foreigners are often abducted.

In addition to the danger of an armed attack, tourists in Nigeria are at risk of contracting yellow fever, AIDS or other dangerous diseases.

13. Kenya

Kenya is the country of African safari. This type of entertainment is especially popular among tourists. But the walk may not be as safe as it seemed at first glance. Most of the country's population lives very poorly, which provokes them to robbery and theft. Kenya has a high rate of AIDS. Residents of the capital Nairobi and other parts of the country are rarely seen smiling. The streets are full of beggars and pickpockets. The Kibera slum area in Nairobi is considered particularly dangerous. Some guides can arrange an excursion to the area, but no one can guarantee safety.

14. Somalia

Somalia is best known as the country of pirates. Indeed, attacks on ships are still taking place in coastal waters. Since 1991, a civil war has been going on in Somalia, which has led to the division of the country into five independent territories (Somaliland, Puntland, Maakhir, Galmudug and Northern Somalia), which are controlled by the heads of paramilitaries. Somalia has no central authority and the political situation is chaotic.

Rare travelers in the country are exposed to threats of armed attack, kidnapping for ransom, mine explosions, capture by pirates, etc.

Somalia is the second most intolerant country in the world after North Korea for Christians. The majority of the population are Muslims (Sunni Muslims), and the country has Sharia law instead of secular laws. It is especially dangerous for women to be in Somalia.

Among the circumstances that can attract tourists are the most beautiful unspoiled beaches and diving sites. It should be borne in mind that it is forbidden for women to be naked on the beach. In addition to the beaches in Somalia, the Laas Gaal caves are of particular interest, where rock paintings dating back 10 thousand years have been preserved almost in their original form. Most of the territory of Somalia has not yet been explored due to objective circumstances.

15. South Africa

Despite the large number of African countries with an unstable political situation, poverty and hunger, the most dangerous country in terms of tourism in Africa is South Africa. The aftermath of apartheid is still felt in South Africa. Most of the population (blacks) is below the poverty line. There is a high crime rate. High social tension persists. In May 2008, black riots took place in Johannesburg and Duban to punish migrants from other African countries who rob the local population of jobs. Armed conflicts are frequent in South Africa.

Serious crimes are also frequently recorded in South Africa. There are frequent cases of kidnapping for ransom. Children are also abducted. It is especially dangerous to be in the poor regions of South Africa. Individual tourists and tourist groups may be attacked by armed men. Luggage is often stolen on the way to the hotel. The streets are filled with a lot of unemployed people and beggars.
South Africa has a high rate of AIDS infection (about 20% of the country's adult population).

16. Haiti

For the beauty of the surrounding nature and beaches with golden sand, Haiti could be considered a paradise for tourists. But this is hindered by the unstable political situation in the country, the highest level of poverty among the countries of America, and frequent natural disasters. After the last earthquake in 2010, when, according to official figures, 210 thousand people died, many residents still live in temporary dwellings - slums and tent cities. Many residents are starving, and there has been a massive outbreak of cholera in the country. The streets of Port-au-Prince are restless, with frequent demonstrations and armed conflicts. The police cannot fully guarantee the safety of visitors.

17. Sudan

For a long time, a civil war was fought in Sudan as a result of the conditional division of borders and the ignorance of the ethnic component. Since 2011, the once single country has been divided into two states - directly Sudan and South Sudan. In both states, the remaining armed formations continue the confrontation. According to international data, Sudan is the last refuge for terrorists who fled from other countries. The situation in Darfur province, where ethnic cleansing continues, remains very tense. A large number of the country's residents are forced to emigrate to the neighboring state of Chad. There is a dispute between Sudan and South Sudan over the Abyei area, where large quantities of oil are produced.

In Sudan, radical armed groups, which have strengthened their influence during the civil war, have continued to operate. Each territory of Sudan has its own laws, and in some areas (which make up most of the country's territory), entry to tourists is prohibited. Anyone who breaks the ban can be in any danger.

Sudan has access to the Red Sea. In the seaside area there are excellent beaches with golden sand. But in a Muslim country, it is not advisable for women to appear on the beaches without outerwear. In coastal waters pirate ships ply. Of the attractions in Sudan, many tourists tend to see the Meroe Pyramids, the Nubian Desert, and the Jebel Marra Mountains.

18. Palestine

As a result of the UN plan in 1947 to partition Palestine, the Jewish state of Israel and the Arab regions of the Gaza Strip, the West Bank of the Jordan River, the Golan Heights (a disputed territory between Israel and Syria) were formed in the territory of the corresponding historical region in the Middle East. The entire Arab world opposed the creation of Israel and the Arab-Israeli conflict began, which continues to this day.

Now on the territory of prosperous Israel, Muslim Arabs are trying to create an independent state of Palestine. The radical Palestinians, unlike the Israelis, do not want to resolve the conflict peacefully and oppose Israel's existence as a state. The most dangerous region of Israel is the "enemy territory" of the Gaza Strip controlled by the Islamic organization Hamas. From this territory on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, an almost incessant shelling of Israeli territory is being conducted. From time to time Israel retaliates. Weapons are smuggled into the Gaza Strip from Egypt.

Despite the hostilities and Islamic radicalism, many tourists strive to get to Israel, including the Palestinian territories, in order to walk the Holy Land and get to the temples, from where the spread of Christianity began. Many Christians are attracted by the dream of seeing a silver star marking the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

19. North Korea

Since 1953, North Korea (DPRK) has become a closed state with a planned economy. The power in the country belongs entirely to the Labor Party of Korea with the transfer of the posts of the head of the party by inheritance. Kim Jong-un's current successor replaced Kim Jong-il's father in December 2011.

North Korea's isolationist policy extends to tourists. Easy access to the country is available only to citizens of the PRC, the rest of those wishing to go through a long procedure for obtaining permission to enter the country. The preference is given to organized groups of tourists who have passed the inspection of the special services of Korea.

Russians can get to North Korea only by Vladivostok-Pyongyang flight from Air Koryo. There are only a few areas in the country where tourists are allowed. These are the capital city of Pyongyang, the Kumgangsan zone on the border with South Korea and the new economic zone Rason in the north of the country.

In Mesik, there are twice as many murders per capita as in Russia, and four times as many as in Ukraine. Weapons are used here not for intimidation, but for their intended purpose.

Colombia is a fabulous country with incredibly beautiful landscapes and cities. A lot of natural and architectural attractions are concentrated here. But Colombia has a bad name for its rampant crime and drug trafficking.

Colombia has the highest number of murders and kidnappings in the world. For more than 40 years, a civil war took place in the country, where drug lords defended their interests, among other things. In 2014, Rio de Geneiro became the key city where the FIFA World Cup was held at the Maracanã Stadium. In 2016, the Summer Olympic Games will be held here. The Rio de Geneiro has always been the center of colorful festivals and the most important events in Brazil.

30. Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is located on the same island with the state of Haiti. A tourist business is developed here, which relies on natural attractions: waterfalls in the area of the city of Jarabacoa, the Armando Bermudez reserve, the Padre Nuestro system of underwater caves. The Dominican Republic has many beautiful beaches and popular diving sites (Catalina and Saona islands).

But being in the Dominican Republic isn't all that safe. On the one hand, natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes often occur here. On the other hand, the Dominican Republic maintains a high crime rate, which is also associated with involvement in drug trafficking.

On the streets of cities, one should beware of pickpockets and robbers. They can attack either alone or in a group, with or without weapons. But the outcome of such a meeting is a foregone conclusion. The police very rarely disclose cases of street theft. Of greatest interest, in addition to valuable equipment and gold jewelry, are citizens' passports, driver's licenses, credit cards.

In addition to street robbers, large groups of angry people should be wary of. In the Dominican Republic, there are frequent cases of pogroms and riots in the streets perpetrated by local residents. Tourists are not advised to enter poor areas.

Most of the vacation season is just around the corner, but for some it has already begun, so it's time to be puzzled by the choice of direction and place for a summer vacation.

For families with children, youth and people on a budget, Turkey has always been the number one vacation spot. Due to recent political events, this country was closed to Russian tourists, and people were forced to look for an alternative.

However, in the fall of 2016, the tourist flow began to gain momentum again. The upcoming season promises to return the former popularity and love of tourists to the Turkish shores, however, vigilant citizens have concerns about whether it is dangerous to go to Turkey in the summer of 2019. Let's figure out whether such fears are justified.

The main external problem of the country is that Turkey borders on Syria, a country in which hostilities are being conducted with terrorist groups. The common border, purely theoretically, creates opportunities for radical Islamists to penetrate the territory of Turkey.

The hostilities in Syria have not stopped at the moment, so the territory of Turkey, which borders with Syria, can be restless. However, all resort areas are located in another part of the country, at a considerable distance from the Syrian border.

In order to worry less about their safety, those who go on vacation would like to recommend the following.

 1. If possible, do not leave the hotel grounds again.
 2. If you go outside the territory, try to avoid crowded places (markets, public transport, mass performances).
 3. When leaving the hotel, be sure to take your voucher and copies of your passports with you (we remember that the police will be very vigilant).
 4. Many people ask if it is possible to go on vacation now to Istanbul and other cities besides the coastal ones. Still, refrain from leaving the resort areas. It is better not to tempt fate and postpone trips to the eastern regions of the country and to cities bordering on Syria.

I hope the information helped you make the right decision regarding the choice of a vacation spot!

The current summer season in Turkey is perhaps the most difficult one. The bombings at Istanbul airport, the attempted coup d'état and the ensuing state of emergency in the country led to an unprecedented drop in demand. The numbers speak for themselves: in the first six months of this year, passenger traffic from Russia to Antalya has dropped by 97% compared to the same period last year. But the representatives of the Turkish tourist business are not discouraged - they are sure that as soon as charters arrive from Russia, the tourist flow will quickly recover. The correspondent of www.TourDom.ua was convinced of this. Vladislav Frishko, recently returned from Antalya.

Tour operators at a low start

Charter flights from Russia may resume in the very near future. This statement was made by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin during a joint press conference with the President of Turkey Recep Erdogan... In the meantime, tour operators have to form their offers with flights on regular flights. Since the beginning of August, for example, daily flights of the airline have been carried out to Antalya "Russia"that fills in. The same airline operates regular flights from St. Petersburg. Although, judging by the online scoreboard of Antalya airport, as of early August, flights from Russia were in a clear minority.

Is your vacation in Turkey safe?

This issue is now of concern to many tourists who are waiting for the resumption of charters. City officials report that everything is under control. Governor of Antalya Munir Karaloglu draws attention to the geographical position of the city: due to the fact that it is located between the sea and the mountains, there are only six entrances to the city. All of them are taken under increased control. There are patrols in the streets. Some employees are on duty, dressed in civilian clothes, so as not to embarrass vacationers once again. Security has been strengthened in other resort cities: the police and gendarmerie staff on the entire Antalya coast numbers 10 thousand people. Special services are working, promptly sending out warnings about potential danger and orientation, what or to whom you should pay attention.

Deputy director of the company Catttour Ekaterina Kotenko, who has lived in Antalya for many years, adds that recently, mobile police posts have become more likely to stop cars entering or leaving the city. The matter is not limited to formal verification of documents: they may be asked to get out of the car, open the trunk, check the interior. The increased interest of law enforcement officers is also caused by regular buses. Especially those who come from the eastern regions of Turkey. Police posts can be located both on the main highways leading to the tourist zones, and on secondary country roads.

Airport - in the area of special attention

Particular attention is paid to the road leading to the airport. If earlier the cars entering its territory were checked selectively, now - all without exception. To prevent this from leading to congestion and traffic jams, the route was expanded - instead of two lanes, there are now five. Increased control awaits those who enter the airport. Police officers, some of whom are armed with machine guns, try to be invisible, but sometimes they still catch the eye. They behave quite benevolently, do not mind being photographed, but they do not want to pose specifically.

Antalya Airport Director Mestan Yaiman notes: in 80% of cases, passengers go through body checks. A total of 360 police officers and 1,500 security guards work at the airport. This became possible due to the increase in the staff of both services, in addition, some of the guards were transferred from the second terminal, which is currently not working. Airport personnel periodically undergo retraining, refresher courses and qualifications confirmation.

Administration representative Osman Serdar adds: Over the past two years, Antalya Airport has been audited twice by the International Civil Aviation Association. Including compliance with safety requirements. And both times he was highly appreciated.

A word to tourists

Assurances by assurances, how comfortable are the tourists on the Turkish coast? Let's ask them themselves. The first reviews are the most positive. “From the very beginning it was clear that everything will remain as it is at the resorts. Arriving here, I did not expect any changes for the worse, ”notes the tourist Vladimir, vacationing in the Grand Park Kemer. The only caveat, according to him, is that the hotel administration reminds: when leaving its territory, you must have a tourist voucher with you. It will not be superfluous to take your passport with you. For those who prefer to stay at the hotel all the time, everything remains the same. “We had our doubts because we bought the tour just before the state of emergency was declared. We thought that all roads were closed and we would not get from the airport to the hotel. Now it is clear that the fears were in vain, ”two charming beach girls Olga and Ekaterina unanimously say.

Beaches: strangers don't go here

The seemingly relaxed and serene beaches of Turkish hotels are also under control. The director of the company was able to verify this Have Rest Alisa Shkarovskaya, out of professional habit, decided to enter the territory of a neighboring hotel - to look at the beach villas from the sea. But it was stopped by the hotel security, despite the peaceful appearance and the presence of a business card. “Although before, while on vacation, I always negotiated with the manager and looked around the nearest hotels without any problems. Now it doesn't work. Probably, some internal instructions have changed, ”the interlocutor suggests.

Will the tourist flow recover?

So far, no one can answer this question unambiguously. On the one hand, it is more than likely that the current summer season in Turkey's tourism sector will end in the red: for the remaining three weeks of summer and in the velvet season, the tourist flow will hardly make up for the losses. On the other hand, it can be assumed that the security measures taken will allow the season to end without incident. Which, in turn, will determine the preferences of tourists next year. Most hoteliers are ready to endure, tighten their belts and wait. And, what is much more pleasant, to provide favorable prices. “We will definitely leave special conditions for promising markets,” the general director expresses the general opinion Club Akman Beach Hotel Oguz Mutlu... As for another popular measure - staff reduction in order to minimize losses, hoteliers see this as a serious danger, which can come back to haunt a drop in the quality of services. “We didn’t fire anyone, and this helped to keep our service at the proper level,” says the director Queen's Park Le Jardin Orhan Nadar.

The editors of the website and TourDom.ua would like to thank Travel Professional Group, as well as personally Deputy Director of Catttour Ekaterina Kotenko and Regional Director of Catttour Baki Karakusha for organizing the trip, warm welcome and invaluable assistance in preparing the material.
