What to watch in Stockholm in 3 days. What to see in Stockholm - the main attractions

We have painted for you route   to the most significant and interesting places of Stockholm so that you can make the most complete impression of the city and feel the romance of the most beautiful streets and squares. We tried to mark the most famous points of the city and places that guidebooks are silent about, but which are popular with locals.

What you must see in Stockholm in two days: day one

Stockholm has a restrained charm and we tried to choose exactly those places that will reveal the attractiveness of the city to the fullest extent.
  The sights are arranged in the order in which we would consider them, but you can, if you wish, swap them.

Thinking over the route, it is worth considering the place of your residence - if you live in the center, and the key hotels and guest houses in Stockholm are located there, we would advise you on the first day to explore the city center   and all the main attractions as well in the second   to visit places for which there was not enough time on the first day, go to museums or go to the islands of the archipelago. The average cost of a budget double room in Stockholm is 70-90 euros, for more budget options, look at Booking.com

Address, website:
  Kungliga slottet, 107 70 Stockholm
kungahuset.se
  , built in the style of restrained baroque, gives the impression of a very elegant building - there is no pretentiousness, but there is personification of the Swedish way of life. Inside the palace is as modest as on the outside, so there is no particular reason to go inside - it is better to walk along the promenade or go to the nearest island.
  The most impressive sight is changing of the Guardwhich takes place daily at 12.15 on weekdays and at 13.00 on weekends. It is especially worth noting that this action has been going on since 1523.
  If you still decide to visit the palace, then inspect   The Armory and the Royal Treasurythat are always popular with tourists.

A small island next to (do not worry, it is connected to the city center by a bridge) has established itself as one of the most interesting locations in the city. It is famous for its churches and castles - for the last several centuries it was here that the most beautiful mansions of the country were built. If you are on an island, pay attention to:

  • - a huge square paved with pavers, along the perimeter of which there are majestic churches, with domes and pointed crosses on the turrets, brick houses, pink and a monument to the Swedish king Birger, the same one that was once struck by the spear of Alexander Nevsky in the battle on the Neva;
  •   - used to be a monastery, but today it is the tomb of the Swedish kings. The church, built of brown brick, is interesting for its original turrets and many metal decorative elements, as well as a carved spire that pierces the sky;
  •   - one of the best viewing platforms of the city, from which you can see the beautiful quiet and outlines of the areas and. It will appeal to those who do not like crowds and noise, but appreciate privacy. In summer, a nice cafe is opened on the terrace, where it is so pleasant to sit in the evening and admire how the sun glimmers bathe in the waters of the lake and jump on the roofs of houses.

Most tourists flock to this street because it is here that they sell best souvenirsand also offer the widest range   coffee and cake. You can take a take-away coffee and walk slowly along the street, admiring the wrought-iron pillars of houses, lancet gothic vaults and original sculptures on the porticoes and balconies, or you can sit by the window and watch a bright, cheerful crowd floating by.

One of the most beloved and famous sights of the city is a narrow street, on which two will not miss each other. It is better to come here early in the morning or late in the evening - after sunset in the alley ornate lights turn orange and shadows mysteriously gallop along unevenly plastered walls.

Monteliusvägen Street

The beauty of this street is little reflected on the pages of guidebooks, but we are interested in the real look of the city, and not on the advertised goods. 500-meter walking street that opens great view   on Lake Mälaren, Gamla Stan and Riddarholmen It is here that photographers come who want to take the best photographs of Stockholm - several free viewing platforms   from which you can see the outlines of the Old City and the bay.

Prestgatan Street

A little higher we told you about the most famous walking-souvenir-cafe street, Prestgatan is in parallel   she is very different from her. There are no cafes, shops and thousands of tourists, but all because on this street, as conceived by city architects, reigns the pristine spirit of past centuries - paving stones under their feet, brick houses untouched by signs and advertisements, standing so close to each other that it seems as if leaning out of a window you can shake hands with a neighbor opposite, twisted lamps on the walls, old wooden frames and flickering lamps behind glass.

They say that it was from this square that Stockholm began. Sturtoryet remembers what Stockholm was like 7 centuries ago, remembers the sounds of footsteps, the screams of merchants and children's laughter. Along the perimeter of the square are located bright houses built in typical Scandinavian stylethat we all know from postcards and travel booklets. On the ground floors of these gingerbread houses cafe, on the terraces of which you can relax in the summer, and warm yourself inside in the winter. Also in winter it is on this square that the most atmospheric and colorful marketwhere you will be served delicious snacks and a fragrant wine glogg.

Our walk ends at the same place where it started - in baking filled with aromas.

What you must see in Stockholm in two days: day two

Address:
  Hantverkargatan 1, Stockholm
City Hall, the place of the banquet of Nobel laureates   and pilgrimage tourists. This place is one of the most outstanding architectural structures of the city. A mixture of styles, elements, materials and symbols create a composition from which it is difficult to take your eyes off. There is something to look at: three crowns on the tower’s spire (the symbol of the city that adorns Stockholm’s large souvenir production), the mysterious vaulted ceiling of the Hundred Hall, the Golden Hall decorated with mosaics of 18 million pieces, the Hall of the Soviets with the original ceiling in the form of an inverted Viking gallery and mass other interesting things. At the top of the tower is an observation platform with a magnificent view of the neighboring island.

“Queen's Street”, as Drottningatan is also called, extends for a kilometer and is one of favorite places for walking   at the townspeople and guests of the city. Every second house here has an ancient history and stone sculptures of lions guard the entire length of the street. Here you can eat in a cute cafehaving lunch in a chic a restaurantbuy souvenirs   for absolutely every taste, find a decent place for shopping   - everything for your relaxation and entertainment.
String of silver letters   along the street - words from the works of the Swedish writer August Strindberg, which lead to his the museum;
Park Observatorielunden, which is located at the very end of the street and is one of the best parks in the city (read about the best parks in Stockholm). The attraction of the park is the original spherical building of the Stockholm Observatory.

The most prestigious street of the city, on which, starting from the 19th century, the most elite real estate is being built. Trees are neatly planted along the cobblestone promenade, yachts and boats are standing on the shores, across the road from the promenade, stylish and cozy cafes and restaurants are waiting for their customers. The promenade will lead you directly to.

Djurgarden is called an island of entertainment and for good reason:

  •   - Folklore-ethnographic museum, which will immerse you in the life of a medieval Swedish village, as well as a park. Biological Museum, menagerie and aquarium;
  •   - a wonderful world dedicated to the tales of Astrid Lindgren, which will be interesting and fun to visit not only for children but also for adults;
  •   - a museum, which all the guidebooks call museum number 1. The exposition consists of a ship, which was intact from the bottom of the Baltic Sea, on which it lay for 3 centuries, as well as things that were found in the ship, busts of crew members and the history of navigation;
  • The ancient amusement park Gröna Lund - a huge park of ancient and most modern attractions located on the seashore;
  •   - It is also called the Northern Museum. More than one and a half million exhibits dedicated to the history of the Swedish people: costumes, jewelry, interiors, dishes, books - everything that can concern the life and life of the Swedes. Many exhibits of the museum are more than 400 years old;
  • Palaces, mansions, yachts, marinas, nature ...

More about museums in Stockholm   we told in the article "".

In order to explore the whole island, you will need 3-4 hours, but you can choose the most interesting museums, walk a couple of hours, and then catch a ferry and set sail towards your impressions.

If you still have time, strength and desire, you can go to the islands Sheppsholmen and Castellholmenlocated across the tiny strait from Djurgarden Island - you can get there by ferry via ferry   (the crossing will last just a couple of minutes). These islands are valuable for castles, beautiful nature, as well as a large number of museums: museum of Modern Art, the most original monument to Lenin in the world, a sculpture parkand uniquely beautiful views of the city and the bay.

Life hacks around the city:

  • Do not be afraid to go into the dark narrow alleys   - this is where the atmosphere is felt best;
  • food in cafes and restaurants in Stockholm is very expensive, but still try signature Swedish meatballs with lingonberry or cranberry sauce. We tell you: the most inexpensive, and no less tasty, meatballs are sold at IKEA;
  • look around   - the beauty of the city in detail.

Tokholm is becoming more and more attractive to travelers every year, but many are stopped by the well-known high cost of the country and its capital. The farther from the center, the hotels and guest houses become cheaper, however, it is worth considering the cost of travel to the city center and back, where most of the attractions are located. It is often more profitable to rent a room closer to the center, despite the higher cost. The central districts of Stockholm include Gamla Stan, Södermalm, Ostermalm, Kungsholmen and Vasastan. The best hotels are located in them, and we will tell you about the cheapest of them. Choosing a hotel in Stockholm, pay attention to ...

i told how we ended up in Stockholm, how we began our acquaintance with the sights of the city and what kind of hotel we settled in.

The next morning we looked out the window - the morning was gray, but the rain stopped. The dark tower of the town hall stretched up, and the city, lining up along the water, protruded its domes and spiers from the far rows and fell into the water in a mirror.

We had breakfast and rushed to the north shore (we ourselves lived on the south island - Sodermalm).

Södermalm view

On bridges and islands, they soon got to the beautiful town hall.

Town Hall

Appearance

The Stockholm City Hall looks medieval - a dark formidable castle-palace, but in reality it was built at the beginning of the last century (1911-1923, architect Estberg). The bricks were burned in a special way - they were “aging”.

This is a tall, rectangular building with a large courtyard in the middle, designed like an Italian palazzo.

Town Hall, courtyard

At the entrance to the right is the ticket office where you can buy a ticket to visit the town hall. Visits are held in sessions, only accompanied by a guide, and last about forty minutes.

We bought a ticket for a 10-hour session - 70 CZK. Unfortunately, it was impossible to climb the tower - the tower for visitors was open only from May 10. A full ticket to the town hall + tower costs 100 kroons (about 700 rubles).

In anticipation of the tour, we walked under the walls of the town hall. The courtyard is separated from the promenade by a double colonnade.

To the right under the walls of the town hall is a small square.

Descendant of the Vikings. March month, by the way

Around the corner, under a canopy on four columns, is a gilded sculpture of the lying Birger Jarl, the founder of Stockholm. Above him is St. George with a serpent. The image of George the Victorious fighting a snake is often found in Sweden - this is a symbol of Sweden’s struggle with Denmark.

City Hall Tour

At the appointed time, we were taken to the town hall itself. The tour was in English. When buying a ticket, we were given a leaflet with a description in Russian.

We entered the high echo Blue Hallwhich is actually not blue, but terracotta. It was conceived as blue and was indicated under this name in the technical documentation. But when it was erected, the architect liked the color of the raw brick so much that he did not begin to paint it.

Blue hall

Anniversary banquets are held in the Blue Hall every December 10 Nobel Prizes. The guests are seated tightly - 70 cm of space at the table is allocated for each guest.

The next big hall is council Hallwhere city council meetings are held.

Hall of Soviets

A lot of wood was used in the design of the hall, and the main element of the decor is the ceiling. It is made in the form of a high ridge roof with open rafters, in the depths of which painted wooden panels are visible.

The ceiling of the hall of the Soviets

The hall itself visually looks quite wide, and its ceiling is long and narrow, and the flow of forms in this curved space is puzzling. As well as the transition from the officially lower part - to the simplicity of a village barn with rafters. In general, the interior design is thought out to the smallest detail and contains many bright copyright finds.

Go to front door of the town hall. This is a high light well with a cross vault. Called - Arch of Hundreds, because it is created from numerous irregularities overlapping each other.

A figure of St. George with a dragon stands under a vault on the disk. In the summer, at 12 and 18 o’clock, the disk turns, and George with the dragon moves to the outside of the town hall.

The next room is Oval   - decorated with French tapestries. Used for wedding ceremonies.

Oval hall

From the Oval Hall we go to Prince's Gallery. The gallery is divided into two parts next to the columns. On the left wall of the gallery is a landscape that opens from the windows of the right side. The landscape was painted by Prince Eugene, who was an excellent artist.

Gallery of Prince Eugene

The deep and high window openings are decorated with stucco molding.

On the ceiling are wooden panels with blue patterns.

The next hall was almost not remembered, since the entrance to the Golden Hall, and the radiance of his mosaics irresistibly attracted the eyes.

Golden Hall

Golden Hall   makes a grand impression. This is a huge room, covered with mosaics. The figures illustrate the history of Sweden from ancient times. Characters of myths and sagas are intertwined with historical persons.

And the composition is crowned with a central panel at the end of the hall - Queen Mälaren.

Everything is clear: somewhere nearby - Modern Art Museum.

In front of the museum of modern art

Indeed, the entrance was to the right of the spider. And there is the entrance to Museum of Architecture.

Behind the chapel showed up East Asian Museum   ("Ostasiatiska"), which is famous for its collection of Chinese antiquities. Previously, the building housed the stables and barracks of Charles 12th soldiers.

Having walked around the island, they returned to the pier and on the approached boat crossed to Djurgarden.

Djurgarden

Djurgarden   - a large wooded island that was previously used for royal hunting. And today, most of the island is occupied by forest, paths are laid through the forest, and it is better to travel there by bicycle. Bicycles can be rented at the entrance to Djurgården.

But this is mainly the prerogative of the local. Tourists arriving in Stockholm first of all go to the wonderful museums of Djurgarden: Unibaken, Skansen   and vasa ship museum. I was in them on my previous visits to Stockholm. All three museums are extremely interesting and unique.

There is an amusement park with attractions on the island - Grena Lund, and we saw enough of their slides when our boat moved between the islands. In the depths of the island there are art museums: house-museum of Prince Eugene, a Swedish landscape painter whose drawings we admired in the town hall this morning, Til Gallery   with paintings by Swedish artists of the last century, summer king charles palace 4th.

At the entrance to the island are Biological Museum   and, but tourists coming for a short time rarely go there. And then say - Unibaken, the ship Vasa and Skansen - this is a full-fledged program for the day. In addition, museums in Stockholm close early: their opening hours are usually from 11 to 5 pm.

So we arrived at Djurgården at five in the afternoon. On the pier lined up for a boat of those who have already walked around the island. We passed them and went along the coast to the north.

Was still open aBBA Museum. Songs of the legendary Swedish band sounded on the site in front of the museum, and it was possible to take pictures as any member of ABBA.

Wandered into a small memorial hill near the Vasa Museum - with numerous burials of those who died during the crash of the ferry "Estonia" in 1994.

And now we come to the Northern Museum lit by the pre-sunset sun - one of Stockholm's most magnificent buildings. It looks like a fairytale castle and is unusually beautiful from every angle. Every time I admire him, but I won’t get inside.

In front of the museum there are blue spots of grass on the grass. In some places - crocuses. Like the northern suburbs, and already snowdrops are in full bloom.

and crocuses

Take a walk at sunset at Djurgarden, when the island is quiet and calm, and abandoned by crowds of sightseers. When all his unusual buildings stand alone and are reflected in the gilded sunset water. The feeling of traveling through a fabulous country.

Leaving the island, we headed inland along the wide avenue Narvavagen and reached the large circular Karlaplan Square, into which straight long avenues of rays ran into from different sides.

Stockholm metro

We planned to complete our walk around the city by exploring the Stockholm metro, as the metro in Stockholm is also a tourist attraction. It consists of three branches connecting at one point - at the T-centralen station.

The most interesting is considered Blue branch. Its peculiarity is that many of its stations were both cut down in the rock and left unplastered, just painted in different colors and painted. And it turned out great.

We went along the Blue Line and went out at every station we liked. They took pictures, then rode on the next train.

Drawings on the walls of the subway

We bought a one-time ticket with a validity period of 75 minutes. It seems like a long time, and we relaxed. And as a result, we stopped at a distant station called Kista. There was a long drive up to Kista, the station itself was open, and there was nothing special to watch. The only thing we saw was that it was already completely dark on the street. And we had about half an hour to ride on our map.

Another town hall

We didn’t have time to get to our station Gamla Stan. They began to look where we had time. Yeah, there’s such a station - Radhuset, i.e. Town Hall We were in the morning in this town hall, we know. And not far from our hotel.

We land on Radhuset.

We go up, we leave the subway. We are still inside the rock through which a long tunnel passes. Which side of the tunnel we are going to go is unclear. We look - the elevator. Yeah, we go into the elevator and drive up for a long time. Finally, the elevator stops and we finally find ourselves on the street.

But where? here is the question! Town Halls - not a sign. We are on top of a hill, around multi-storey buildings, a long staircase stretches down the slope. And the subway lobby looks like a birdhouse.

Radhuset metro lobby

Met a woman. “Where is,” we say, “Radhuset?” - A woman points to the stairs, get down, they say, down.

We went down. The area, meanwhile, is pretty, it’s kind of very Swedish, and it’s easy to imagine that Carlson could well live under that roof.

On a narrow terrace across the slope there was a garden with sculptures.

And on a small platform - burning hearts.

And nobody around. Only the windows are burning.

We went down to the bottom. Caught a man, again we ask about Radhuset. And he waves to the wide bright tower. Here you have the town hall.

Then we read that our morning town hall is called Stadhuset, i.e. state house. And this town hall is a city house.

But the city hall is a very remarkable building.

Radhuset (not to be confused with Stadhuset!)

And opposite it is another tall palace with a tall tower. It turned out the police department.

Stockholm Police Department

Here we got our bearings and went to the Stadhuset Town Hall and soon, indeed, left. On the way, we bought food for dinner at the store. And after about 20 minutes we were already entering our ship, completely exhausted, but quite happy with the exciting day.

Sodermalm

And the next morning the weather turned bad. In the morning it started to rain. The third day we took for walks on the island of Södermalm, but what a walk there.

Still climbed the rock. A narrow wooden path serpentine rose along the cliff from the embankment to the top, and soon we walked along the top of the cliff and looked at Stockholm in the rain.

Our hotel is the rightmost boat

Sodermalm, meanwhile, turned out to be an island of steep descents and ascents. The streets inside him now went down, then flew up. It seems that you are walking along the first floor, and on the other side of you behind the fence there is a failure, and the street is deep below. All the time, ladders, walkways, thrown from one side of the street to the other. It turns out that bridge from the entrance of one house and bumps into the third floor of the neighboring one.

Gamla Stan and his churches

Then we went to Gamla Stan and walked there for a while.

Another St. George

We went to Sturchurkan, also known as the Church of St. Nicholas. The 13th-century church, dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, is considered one of the first in Stockholm and is decorated inside with all kinds of splendor.

There is another noticeable church in the middle of Gamla Stan, whose green narrow spire now and then peeps out of some alley, wherever you go. This is a German church, or Tuska churkan. It was built by German merchants in the 17th century.

But only we slipped in there - to admire its riches of Baroque, as we were handed a weighty book at the entrance, so that we would go to the service and follow the text in the book, and sing along in the right place.

We refused the book, we say, we only have to look. “This is not a tourist attraction,” the woman said sternly. “Beatiful,” I said flatteringly, craning my neck and trying to make out the interior. The woman smiled kindly, but did not let her in without a hymn.

Equally unsuccessful was an attempt to infiltrate the Finnish church. The church is inconspicuous and looks like an ordinary house. At the entrance, they gave us just a brochure with notes and text. We looked at this text and went out ourselves.

Gamla Stan Finnish Church, opposite the Royal Palace

And behind this Finnish church all alone in the rain sits a little boy - the smallest boy in Stockholm. Rain is not terrible for him - it is bronze, but still for some reason I feel sorry for him every time. And also, they say, he fulfills desires.

In general, we left him - until next time - and went on a plane. And in the evening we were already walking around Moscow, the same rainy and dank.

And Stockholm, meanwhile, turned from reality into a memory, it conveniently settled in the corner of memory allocated to it, glittering from there either with golden mosaics of the town hall or with palaces reflected in the water. My next acquisition, eternal and fireproof.

If you have not yet decided where to spend the May holidays, then do not discount Stockholm. The capital of Sweden for the weekend in May or June is a city that can be said to be perfect in every way.

Firstly, here (as in St. Petersburg) there are long days and short nights, which means that you can walk along the embankments for long white nights holding your loved one's hand, and secondly, at this time of the year the weather in Sweden is very comfortable for walking , well, plus the road to Stockholm, that from Moscow, that from St. Petersburg takes only a few hours. In today's post, I’m talking about what to do in Stockholm in three days.

THE FIRST DAY: ACQUAINTANCE WITH THE CITY - WALK BY BOAT

Stockholm is located on 14 islands, between which there are tourist boats and just passenger boats operating on the principle of fixed-route taxis, so it’s quite logical to start exploring the city from a trip along the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren.

In addition to the fact that a boat trip is a relaxing enterprise, and at the same time tunes in a romantic way, it perfectly helps you begin to navigate in the areas or, to be more precise, in the islands of the city.

In the photo: a boat on the Stockholm embankment

The first district is   Gamla Stan   - A small island in the center of the island system of the Swedish capital. If you mentally imagine a map of the city, then the historical district of Gamla Stan is a kind of starting point in the Stockholm coordinate system.

In the photo: Stockholm embankment at night

Above are the Normalm district, where the best cafes and shops of the capital of Sweden are located, and Ostermalm with beautiful buildings built in the nineteenth century. Bottom of the Gamla Stan - Södermalm is a modern district of Stockholm with famous observation platforms that people wishing to admire the panorama of the city rise to.

Water excursions around the Stockholm islands last from 50 minutes to two and a half hours. An important point, if you intend to start exploring the city in this way, dress warmer, the Baltic winds are known for their cold breath, so if you don’t wrap yourself up properly, you can catch a cold even in summer.

WALK IN THE OLD TOWN

Stockholm residents like to complain: “Why are tourists immediately brought to the Old Town when we have so many other great walking routes?” Ok, maybe, from a local point of view, take a walk in Old town   - uninteresting, but to ignore the largest medieval city in Europe, which is located on the island Gamla Stan, too, is not the right decision.

Take a walk along the cobbled streets, look into the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and look at the changing of the guard at the walls of the Royal Palace - the official residence of the Swedish monarch.

Pictured: Stockholm Royal Palace

By the way, in the guard of honor at the palace of the King of Sweden are not only men, but also women. If you are seriously interested in the life of monarchs, you can go on an excursion to the Royal Palace - most of the halls are open for visitors.

In the photo: girl - royal guard

The only minus of the Old Town is that Russian speech is heard everywhere, and the point is not only that the vast majority of people walking around Gamla Stan are our compatriots. The azami of the Russian language is spoken by sellers in local shops, waiters in restaurants, and even boys and girls selling roasted nuts on street stalls, in a word, it seems that mother did not leave anywhere else.

In the photo: view from the steps of the Royal Palace

Nearby, another must-visit point for all Stockholm guests is Town Hallthat stands on the promenade of the island   Kungsholmen, address - Hantverkargatan 1, 111 52 Stockholm.

It is interesting not only with the 106-meter bell tower and the Golden Hall, decorated with mosaics, but also with the fact that it is here that every year on December 10 a banquet is held, at which Nobel laureates are honored.

But on a neighboring island Vasastan   famous haga park   broken in the XVIII century by order of Gusava the Third. The park today is one of the best examples of landscape design; it was not for nothing that the palace built nearby was chosen by Crown Princess Victoria herself for permanent residence.

WALK AROUND NORMALM AND OSTERMALM

After visiting the most popular tourist destination in Stockholm, it is best to disappear into the crowd of local residents, you can do this without leaving the city center, or rather, moving to the geographical center of the Swedish capital, the area Normal (Norrmalm).

It is here that the heart of business Stockholm beats, the offices of all major campaigns are located here, people on the streets no longer walk in measured tourist steps, but cheerfully hurry on business. Guests of the capital of Sweden love this area because it is here that you can indulge in rampant shopping, and then wash your successful acquisitions in one of the local cafes. Stockholm residents themselves consider the neighborhood next to Normalm to be the best shopping district. Ostermalm (Östermalm).

In the photo: shopping street Birger-Yarlsgatan

On the main street of the Birger-Jarlsgatan district there are shops of Prada, Burberry and other fashion houses, whose names caress the ears of any shopaholic.

If after such an onerous lesson like shopping you get hungry, then look at the one located here Estermalm Market (address: Östermalmstorg, 114 42 Stockholm), as this is the best place for a basic acquaintance with Swedish cuisine. The Östermalms Saluhall market was built in the nineteenth century, and there are many restaurants open in addition to shops.

Here you can taste the famous mitballs, and local open sandwiches, and the freshest seafood, and, of course, the famous Swedish beer. . After exploring the areas of Stockholm, go for a walk along the city's promenades, well, and the evening of the first day should be spent in a good and, most importantly, fun bar.

One of the features of the fun venues in the Swedish capital - a bar, restaurant and club in a single space. All guests of the city would like to recommend a bar-restaurant Taverna brillo (address: Sturegatan 4, Humlegardsgatan 19, Stockholm, Sweden, Tel: 851977800) The institution is positioned as a restaurant of Italian cuisine, but in reality it is a restaurant and a bar in one bottle, you can have dinner in some rooms, drink beer or wine in some rooms and have a chat with local residents, by the way, almost all Stockholm natives speak excellent English. In a word, there is fun.

SECOND DAY YURGODEN: VAZ MUSEUM, TALES OF ASTRID LINGRED, ABBA AND SCANSEN PARK

In the Swedish capital, many museums are curious not only from a historical or educational point of view, but also because they are fun for both small and adult.

Many interesting museums, as well as the only National Park in the world located in the city, are located on the island of Djurgarden, where it makes sense to spend the whole day. A great example of an entertaining museum is VasamuseetHe’s Vasa, Vasa, Vasa (address: Galärvarvsvägen 14, 115 21). The museum building was erected around a seventeenth-century ship, raised in 1961 from the bottom of Stockholm harbor.

The vase was supposed to become the flagship of the Swedish fleet, but sank, not having time to leave the coast of Sweden, the reason for this is the mistake of the designers. In the twentieth century, a huge, richly decorated ship was lifted from the bottom, mothballed and placed in a museum.

In the photo: statues on board the ship VAZ

Even if you are indifferent to the history of navigation and shipbuilding, you still have to look at the Vaza Museum, because nowhere else in the world will you be able to see the royal ship of the seventeenth century near now, well, plus you can immediately learn all about the difficult life of sailors of that time. By the way, if you go to Stockholm with your children, then you should definitely visit Vaza, the kids really like it here, and it’s located nearby Unibaken - Astrid Lindgren Fairytale Museum, where both Peppi Longstocking Villa and Carlson’s apartment are recreated.

In the photo: Astrid Lindgren Fairytale Museum

The museum is interactive, kids travel around the world of fairy tales on the magical railway, run around the houses, ride cars, in a word, have fun in full. The address of the Tale Museum is Galärvarvsvägen 8, 115 21 Stockholm.
  If you don’t believe in fairy tales, but the music still sounds in your soul, then by all means take a look at aBBA Museumlocated here (address - Djurgårdsvägen 68, 115 21, Stockholm). The museum of the legendary Swedish four is also interactive.

In addition to exploring the main milestones of ABBA history, visitors are invited to try on a costume in the style of the concert outfits of the group, record their own song, watch a self-playing piano, and then dine at a local restaurant with the characteristic name Melody. It is better to buy a ticket to the museum in advance on the website:.

Well, if you are not indifferent to Picasso, Dali and Matisse, then you should include in the list of must-see places that is located near Lake Mälaren, this is directly opposite the Vaza Museum, across the strait (Address - Exercisplan 4, 111 49 Stockholm).

In the photo: Museum of Modern Art

Residents of the Swedish capital proudly say that the museum’s collection is recognized as one of the best in Europe, it stores about 130 thousand objects of art created from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. In general, it will take you at least half a day to inspect an unhurried exposure. After a walk through the museums, stroll through the National Park Djurgarden.

It used to be a royal hunting park, and now it is a favorite vacation spot for citizens. The second park, located on Djurgården, is the famous Skansen.

Skansen(address - Djurgårdsslätten 49-51, 115 21 Stockholm)   - is a park and open-air museum. Founded by Skansen in 1891, Arthur Hazelius, he dreamed of creating a folklore and cultural complex in the park that has no analogues in any other country.

In the photo: festivals in Skansen

It is said - done, old houses from all over Sweden were brought to the park, here you can, as they say, study the history of the country using living examples. Skansen's employees are dressed in folk costumes, and in winter, the park hosts the country's largest Christmas market.

DAY THREE: DROTTNINGHOLD PALACE AND SEAFERM SIDERMALM

Another must have place to visit is drottninghold Palace(178 02 Drottningholm). It was built in the sixteenth century for his wife by the Swedish king Johan the Third.

Today, the palace is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, in addition, this place has become the residence of the royal family of Sweden. In addition to the palace itself, local gardens and the Court Theater are of interest. Unfortunately, the palace is located far from the center, so it makes sense to go here in the morning, then to return to the city.

At the end of the day, you should have a picnic on the promenade. sodermalm islands. If tourists like to relax in Skansen, then the favorite green area of \u200b\u200blocal residents is the embankments Sodermalma, they are also called Stockholm Central Park.

In summer, the park’s paths are occupied by athletes, the Södermalm embankments are a favorite place for those who like jogging and Nordic walking, and the Swedes also like to have picnics here. Deer live in the park, so if you meet them, don't be alarmed.

  - the capital of Sweden. In Stockholm was the most difficult route preparation, because I want to catch everything, but there is very little time. I bring to your attention a list of attractions with a map and information on how to save on transport.

Stockholm metro

The metro of the capital of Sweden is indicated by the letter T, at the entrance you need to attach a map. All stations have lifts for people with disabilities and for mothers with a stroller. Very comfortably.

It is extremely difficult to get confused, everywhere there are displays with a terminal station and the arrival time of the train. Doors open after pressing a button, and not like ours - automatically.

There are only 3 lines in the metro: red, green and blue. It is the blue branch that all guidebooks advise to see, as it is considered one of the attractions of Sweden. I would not spend time on this, but unless the weather leaves much to be desired, then you can kill time. The history of the city says that 140 artists and sculptors of Sweden worked on the creation of the metro. The most beautiful stations: Solna Centrum, T-Cetntralen, Fridhemsplan, Kungsträdgården (Royal Garden), Näckrosen, Hallonbergen. Honestly, after the St. Petersburg metro it seems that we were deceived and the colored polystyrene does not seem so impressive. Of course, when compared with the metro in Berlin, I think that the Germans would have liked it here.

How to get from the terminal to the center

After leaving the ferry terminal, turn left and at 200 m you will see a stop.

The nearest Gardet metro station is bus number 1. The interval is 15 minutes.

Vassa Museum

Address: Galärvarvsvägen 14, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

The museum is unique and must be visited. It is a huge warship of the 17th century, lying at the bottom of the sea 333 years. It was raised to the surface in 1961 and, most surprisingly, almost all the details have retained their authenticity.

If you do not speak English perfectly, then you can watch the video in Russian, though they show it 2 times a day, but we were lucky and we came to the very beginning. The ship sank as soon as it went to sea. The reason was a mistake in the design of the ship.

Cost of visit:

Adults 130 CZK;
  Children (0-18 years old) - free of charge;
  Students (certificate required) - 110 CZK

After the museum island, we drove back to our ferry to the Frihanmen terminal at Frihamnen, Frihamnsgatan 21-23 10253 Stockholm

In general, Stockholm really liked, a cozy beautiful well-groomed town. It’s immediately obvious that people with disabilities are really comfortable here. Elevators and ramps are available everywhere. If you travel light, I recommend renting a bike. In Sweden, people who use two-wheeled vehicles are also taken care of, bicycle paths are well thought out.

The mysterious and aristocratic Stockholm, located on fourteen islands, fascinates with the harmony of natural beauties, old quarters and modern city landscapes. The picturesque Scandinavian city, famous for its original museums, carefully preserves the memories of the times of warlike Vikings, noble knights and great kings. Further in the article we offer a list including the main attractions of Stockholm, which are worth seeing to a tourist who finds himself in this city.

What to see in Stockholm: TOP-12

1. Stockholm Old Town

The ancient and original Old Town is the historical center of the Swedish capital with narrow cobbled streets, multi-colored walls of medieval houses and high tower spiers. It is located on the island of Stadsholmen. Here in the 13th century the history of Stockholm began. The old city is a kind of operating museum, once in which you can mentally travel to medieval Sweden. Here you can see the most important sights for Stockholm - the Royal Palace, the Noble Assembly, the Church of St. Nicholas, the Nobel Museum. In the same old quarter, there is one of the narrowest streets in the world, the width of which is only 90 centimeters. This is a must see place in Stockholm!

2. The Royal Palace in Stockholm

The royal residence, without a doubt, is one of the best attractions in Stockholm, and is also among the largest operating palaces in the world. In its halls, visitors will find interesting thematic museums. The treasury of the Royal Palace is a collection of luxurious royal attributes, including crowns, mantles, scepters, wands and other symbols of power. The Armory provides richly decorated carriages, ceremonial costumes and military armor. The Museum “Three Crowns” contains fragments of the medieval castle of the same name, on the site of which the Royal Palace was erected in the 17th century. All this heritage turns the palace into one of the most interesting tourist places in Stockholm.

Wadsten Abbey is Stockholm's main religious attraction, a visit which will be interesting even to people far from religion. It is also the largest Catholic monastery in Sweden, founded in the XIV century. The patroness of the monastery was St. Brigitte, who grew up in an aristocratic family and respected spiritual values. The nuns serving in the abbey observe centuries-old Christian traditions and are distinguished by special hospitality. In warmer months, guests of the abbey can stay in a cozy, well-kept guest house on the lake. Many come here to enjoy peace and tranquility and find peace of mind. Also nearby you can visit a no less interesting place - Wadsten Castle.

The town hall with three crowns crowning the spire of the bell tower is one of Stockholm's most recognizable symbols. The town hall building was built at the beginning of the 20th century and is a wonderful example of modern European architecture. Inside, there are meetings of political figures and meetings of the city administration, and banquets are traditionally organized in the Golden and Blue Halls after the Nobel Prize ceremony. This is one of the most visited places in Stockholm, where it will be interesting to everyone!

Among the Stockholm attractions, you should definitely see the Vasa Museum. This is one of Sweden’s most amazing museums, representing the only original 17th-century sailing ship in the world. The magnificent frigate Vasa was supposed to be the main warship of the Royal Navy, but he sank during his first sailing. After the investigation, it turned out that none other than King Gustav II Adolf was to blame for this, having ordered the installation of as many as 64 guns on board the ship. Due to the excessive severity of the cannon decks, the ship, barely having sailed from the shore, bent over from a gust of wind and quickly went to the bottom. Later, with incredible efforts, more than fifty bronze cannons were lifted from the bottom, and the ship itself was forgotten for a long time. After rising to the surface, Vasa frigate became one of the main attractions of Scandinavia, which every tourist is recommended to visit.

The world's first open-air city-reserve, created at the end of the 19th century, consists of many buildings and estates of the 18th-19th centuries. In this distinctive town you can find a forge, a mill, a church and even a small zoo. Artisans work in workshops, peasants grow vegetables and healing herbs in vegetable gardens, and delicious buns are prepared in bakeries according to old recipes. On public holidays, fascinating performances are held at the museum. The best time to visit Skansen is Christmas Eve, when the streets of the town are decorated with traditional national toys and colorful lanterns.

Fans of cultural attractions are advised to head to the National Museum of Sweden in Stockholm. Its history began in the 16th century with a collection of works of art that King Gustav Vasa gathered in his castle. The number of values \u200b\u200bhas constantly increased due to gifts, purchases and numerous trophies. Today, there is a rich collection of paintings, sculptures, graphics and objects of decorative art. The list of the most famous works includes original paintings by Auguste Renoir, Rembrandt, Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin. The museum is also famous for the largest collection of Russian icons in Western Europe.

Stockholm City Museum is also popular with tourists. This place introduces its visitors to the history of the Swedish capital, dating back more than 750 years. The museum's collections are very diverse: medieval life, religious art, ancient coins, photographs of the early XX century, a selection of old films and other thematic exhibitions. There are also unusual expositions demonstrating the life of poor citizens in a rather unsightly form. For example, the atmosphere of a cramped, nondescript room was completely preserved, in which the whole family was forced to huddle. No less interesting is the collection of portraits of the poor living in the Middle Ages, created on the basis of archaeological excavations and historical documents. Among them - a miserable drunkard, an orphan from a shelter, a blind cripple and other typical representatives of the urban poor. Pretty interesting place to visit.

Another interesting attraction of the city of Stockholm, which is worth a visit to history buffs. The exposition of the State Historical Museum covers a huge historical period - from the Stone Age to the 16th century. Museum visitors can try on a Viking costume and visit the ancient Swedish settlement. Very interesting are the medieval altars, skillfully decorated with images illustrating biblical subjects. Special attention deserves the "Golden Room", which contains the treasures of the Vikings. A luminous track with dates will help you remember important historical events. The museum is perfectly adapted for children - its visit does not seem to children a boring duty, but resembles an exciting time travel and draws their attention to the history of the country.

The Museum of Natural History is one of the most interesting places in Stockholm, where every biology lover should go. His collection has about ten million exhibits representing preparations of animals, mushrooms and plants from around the world. In various thematic halls, you can observe the Earth’s internal structure in a fascinating way, see dinosaurs and mammoths, look inside the human head and study the structure of teeth at multiple magnifications.

Centuries ago, Djurgården was the main royal hunting ground, and today it is an incredibly interesting attraction in Stockholm, where every tourist needs to visit. Favorite characters from the works of Astrid Lindgren live in the fabulous town of Unibakken, the colorful atmosphere of old Sweden is recreated in the Skansen open-air museum, and the amazing life of the underwater world can be seen in the Aquarius water museum. Numerous thematic museums of the island in the form of an exciting game will introduce their visitors to the history and culture of Sweden.

It will be equally interesting to visit the Royal Drama Theater in Stockholm. This is the main theater in Sweden, founded in the XVIII century on the initiative of the monarch Gustav III. This architectural creation is one of the most magnificent buildings in Stockholm. The exterior is made of white marble and decorated with elements of gilded bronze. Inside the theater is decorated with paintings and sculptures of the best Swedish artists. The great Greta Garbo played on the stage of the Royal Drama Theater, and the ingenious director Ingmar Bergman directed the production of his world-famous performances.

These are the main attractions in Stockholm that every tourist should definitely see! Thank you for your attention and all the best!
