The largest fountain in the world. The largest fountains in the world

Just the other day we told you about the tallest building, which is the Burj Khalifa tower, located in the city of Dubai. As it turned out, right next to the skyscraper there is a fountain, which is at the same time the largest and most expensive in the world among its kind.

Its length is as much as 275 meters, while in the air it can at one moment lift up to 83,000 liters of water to a height of 150 meters! True, the maximum height is only available when using powerful air-pressure devices, which are rarely used even on various holidays, because in order for them to work, you need to increase the pressure in the system, and this takes a rather long period of time.

The system uses 6,000 light sources, including 25 color spotlights. In addition, in the air, the fountain can create a variety of combinations of jets of water, thereby making up various shapes. The rays of light can be seen several tens of kilometers from the view itself.

Construction of the facility began in 2008. The famous American studio WET was engaged in its design, and the construction fell on the shoulders of the local investment company Emaar Properties. The total project cost is estimated at 218 million dollars. Less than a year later, its official opening took place.

Currently, the performance at the fountain can be seen both on weekdays and on weekends. The spectacle is very beautiful, so it certainly gathers a crowd of onlookers. Interestingly, jets of water almost always accompany musical compositions, of which there are about 20 pieces.

By the way, they say that this fountain is visible even from space.

"Rainbow Fountain" is another record holder, it is considered the longest fountain bridge in the world, its length is 1140 meters. By the way, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. It is one of the main attractions of Seoul.

Water flows on both sides of the bridge, the length of which is 570 meters. Thus, the total length of the fountain is 1140 m. The jets do not hit up, but sideways, as if forming an arch. You can go down a tier below and find yourself inside almost the real waterfall!

Thanks to a special program and a special highlight, the effect of dancing jets is created, each of which is about 20 m long. Spectacular shows are held here periodically, so many powerful pumps and a huge number of multi-colored flashlights were installed on the bridge. The water itself is taken directly from the Hangan River. What comes of this, you can see in the photos below.

This building is part of a project to revive Seoul's tourist attraction. In addition to the fountain, parks adjacent to the river were ennobled.

The Grand Cascade of Peterhof occupies a worthy place among the large fountains, the largest fountain in Dubai and some large singing fountains, popular in recent years, are noteworthy.

Among the structures like the Grand Cascade is not in world art. In the eighteenth century, the Grand Cascade was called a little differently - the Great Grotto with cascades. It stands out for its power of watery scenery, huge size and rich sculptural decoration. It was Peter I who owned the idea of \u200b\u200berecting a grandiose fountain structure at the entrance to his seaside residence. This completion of the prospect of the main entrance was very spectacular.

The appearance of the Grand Cascade is not accidental. This triumphal monument was erected as a reminder of the victory in the Northern War. An array of stone was literally cut into an earthen slope. Like a monolithic buttress, he strengthens the mountain, with a palace standing on it.

The facade of the grotto is divided into arches. Above the grotto there is a marble balustrade and a complex cornice. The lateral cascades built on both sides of the grotto are stepped - these are seven steps eight meters wide on each side. Steps are decorated with vases, bas-reliefs, brackets, statues.

In front of the arch was built a fountain "Basket". At the foot of the cascades is a bucket with a statue of Samson towering above it. From this bucket originates the channel leading to the Gulf of Finland, thus connecting the Grand Cascade and the sea.

Cascades and a grotto began to be built in the year 1715. The initial design has been modified several times. A large cascade was launched in August 1723, but not all work was completed. They continued in the 1724th year. Repeatedly in the future, the cascade was restored, and in 1947, restorers had to completely restore the upper part of the cascade destroyed by the war and the marble balustrade.

In Russia, in addition to Peterhof, there are other attractions on the site. The site has a detailed article about the most beautiful places in Russia.

The biggest fountain in Dubai

In Dubai, there is a fountain, which is recognized not only as the largest among the singing fountains in the world, it occupies the second position in the height of water jets. In other words - among the large fountains, this one takes the second place. Its name is Burj Khalifa.

This magnificent fountain complex is built on an artificial island and is highlighted by thousands of spotlights. The fountain "dances" to Arabic, classical and modern popular music.

The created engineering miracle was built at the highest skyscraper in the world - at the Burj Khalifa tower. Design was entrusted to WET Design, who had previously authored another grandiose dancing fountain in Las Vegas. Its name is Bellagio. The opening took place in the spring of 2009. And a year later, it was decided to increase the height of the fountain from one hundred fifty-two meters to two hundred and seventy-five meters. About two hundred and eighteen million dollars were spent on the creation of the Burj Khalifa.

The fountain complex is able to demonstrate spectacular water extravaganzas. Water jets along with floodlights illuminate more than a thousand different combinations. All this happens to the music, creating a romantic atmosphere.

The largest fountain in the world

Often, the fountain becomes the hallmark of the city, a favorite place for its residents and tourists. If you make a rating of the largest fountains in the world, taking the height of its jets as a criterion, then the King Fahd fountain will come first. Its water jets rise to a height of three hundred and twelve meters.

This fountain was installed in the city of Jeddah in 1983, and has since become its main attraction. Championship among the fountains in height, he did not get right away. Initially, the project was designed so that the stream rose only one hundred and twenty meters. After finalizing this project, the fountain became the largest in the world.

It is a gift from the King of Saudi Arabia to the city. It was built on the shores of the Red Sea. The projected height of the jet is a mark of two hundred eighty-five meters, the maximum of three hundred and twelve meters of the water of the fountain reaches only in calm weather.

Because the fountain uses sea water, problems such as grains of sand and sea salt arise. The power plant and pumping station are at a depth of about thirty meters under water. Water flows through pipes three hundred and fifty meters long, the diameter of which gradually decreases from eight hundred millimeters to one hundred twenty-six. Water rushes through the pipeline at a tremendous speed, and leaving the nozzle, tends to rise at a speed of three hundred seventy-five kilometers per hour.

This grandiose fountain is illuminated by five hundred powerful spotlights located on artificial islands. The maintenance and operation of the King Fahd Fountain is carried out by ten specialists. For three weeks every year, all systems undergo preventive maintenance. In addition, the fountain does not work if the north wind changes with a strong south wind, as this can lead to seawater entering the garden of the Royal Salam Palace.

There is another “champion” among the fountains - the chocolate fountain, which was installed in the window of one of the Las Vegas hotels in 2007. Its height exceeded eight meters, and the mass of chocolate circulating in it was about two tons.

The total amount of water circulating constantly in the fountain is about 3 million liters. A distinctive feature of these fountains is the extensive color scheme of water illumination. They are called singing because the water seems to echo the melodies playing during the work of the fountains. These amazing fountains “give performances” of 20 minutes. The music accompanying the work of an amazing sight is a masterpiece of world classics. So, you can hear Bach or Beethoven. Currently, the singing fountains are automated.

Trevi Fountain in Italy

In the capital of Italy, Rome, there is also a singing fountain, which was called Trevi. It is decorated with numerous sculptures. The height of this composition is 26 meters. In the world there are a huge variety of fountains of various heights and shapes. There are fountains that form cascades, there are those that have a bizarre geometric shape or unusual lighting. Fountains are small, but there are real giants. Engineers from different countries compete with each other, constantly inventing something new and unusual.

Today, the highest fountain in the world is the one located in Saudi Arabia. Its greatness is simply unbelievable - the height of the highest fountain is 312 meters! Every second, 625 liters of sea water are thrown into the air under tremendous pressure. The jet speed is 375 kilometers per hour! This spectacle is so mesmerizing that even without additional highlights and other special effects, the fountain is beautiful.

The Fahd Fountain is named after the ruler of the country during which it was built. His second name is the Jeddah Fountain. It works non-stop 24 hours a day, taking only short breaks when a strong wind blows, blowing salty sea water to buildings and vegetation on the shore and during technical work. The fountain in Geneva is very similar both in appearance and in its technical characteristics, but its height is only 120 meters.

The highest fountain in Russia, of course, can not be compared with the fountain of King Fahd, but it does not claim to be superior, because its beauty exceeds any height, and the height is 40 meters. This marvel of water engineering is located in Saransk. The construction of the fountain is dedicated to the millennium of the unification of Russia and Mordovia, and the fountain is called the “Star of Mordovia”. The unusualness of this fountain is that it is light musical (which reminds the world famous) and is made in the form of an ornament inherent in Mordovia.

Many water delivery modes and a three-dimensional laser image in the evenings attract many young people and visitors to the fountain. There is even a so-called “barefoot zone”, where the water slightly covers the feet and adults with children in hot weather can refresh themselves in cool water. This is where real water battles take place, during which participants pour water on each other from any tanks that come to hand.
